University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

Leah M Brandeis University
"I saw things from a different light. I saw things from a developing country perspective. Things move slowly, but they seem much happier about it quite honestly. There are things related to the health care system that was different, and things that should be improved. Because I went on this program, I feel like I have a clearer u..."

"I learned so much -- not just about health in South Africa, but about my own interests. I was constantly challenged and put in situations that I have never faced. The people around me inspired me to keep going when it felt like I hit a wall, and in the end, I am grateful for the opportunity to have studied with SIT in Durban. "

"Major independence"
A student Brandeis University
"It was an eye-opening experience that I am so appreciative I was able to have. I definitely became a more independent and mature me because I went. It was most certainly worthwhile, I think everyone should have the chance to live abroad for a while, and be able to come back with a broader view of the world and life itself. There..."

"I learned about cultures outside of the US and how to live with a local roommate. The cultural exchange was an interesting experience. I think this kind of experience would be more worthwhile to Americans who are completely foreign to eastern Asian culture, as opposed to someone like me who is an ABC and can "blend in" more easi..."

"I learned French! The reason I went to Paris in the first place was to improve my French language skills, and I can confidently say that I achieved that goal. Though my time abroad was extremely challenging, I learned more than I ever have in the span of 5 months. Abroad is really what you make of it, and I worked very hard to m..."

"A lot of new friends, knowledge of European cultures, great tourist experiences"
A student Brandeis University
"I learned a lot about the person that I hope to be and the career I want to pursue. I was very independent throughout the semester and learned that it's okay to spend time alone and reflect on experiences. I had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe and see the world in ways that I don't think I otherwise would have been a..."
Genesis L Brandeis University
"Yes, definitely. I was able to learn so much about the region in Italy, and after only 2 months I began to feel at home in the city of Catania. Many other European cities have become too used to Americans and are too globalized, but Catania is a tourist free zone, and allows for Americans to become completely a part of the city...."

"I learned I am capable of anything, it might be difficult and hard, but I can survive it and learn from it and treasure the experience for how it shaped me"
A student Brandeis University
