In this directory you will see information from these organizations, which may help you fund your dream of study abroad.

Many other resources exist, including those from your home university, you should check with your study abroad office for a list of these. You might also consider how study abroad may impact your existing university Financial Aid package, as the cost of your education will change.

Arcadia

The College of Global Studies at Arcadia has one of the most extensive scholarship programs of any study abroad organization. As a non-profit university, Arcadia aims to help students for whom financial assistance can mean the difference between participation in an Arcadia program and staying home. Eligibility for our scholarships is based on financial need and approximately 70% of study abroad students who apply for aid from Arcadia receive some form of award.

API / Academic Programs International

12 scholarships available across 117 programs

The API regional scholarships (Asia/Middle East, Europe, Latin America) provide awards that range from $250 to $800 per session. All API students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher are encouraged to apply. The scholarship is both need and merit-based. We will review your academic record, essays and financial need as stated in your own words. This scholarship is offered to quarter/semester, academic year, and summer students.

The API-JCU Diversity Scholarship provides one full tuition award per session abroad (fall, spring, summer 1 or summer 2 session) to an outstanding minority student participating in the John Cabot University Program in Rome, Italy.

API is pleased to support students who are the first in their families to attend a college or university. The First Generation Scholarship award ranges from $250 to $750 per session and is available for academic year, quarter/semester, and summer students.

This scholarship is offered to API participants who attend a community college in the U.S., and awards range from $250 to $750 per session.

Students who are interested in studying abroad with API at John Cabot University in Rome have the opportunity to earn an “early bird scholarship” in the form of a $200 – $350 program fee deduction, simply by applying to the program in advance of the application deadlines.

The API STEM scholarship is offered for API participants who are studying science, technology, engineering or mathematics. The API STEM Scholarship award ranges from $250 to $750 and is available for academic year, quarter/semester, and summer students.

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide. Students participating in an API program who have been awarded a Gilman scholarship will be eligible to receive up to $1,000 in matching contributions from API for a study abroad program, or up to $500 in matching contributions from API for an intern abroad program. To receive this award, Gilman winners should indicate their scholarship details on their financial aid information after acceptance to an API study abroad program.

API is proud to provide a diversity scholarship in order to support students from a variety of backgrounds. The API Diversity Scholarship award ranges from $250 to $750 and is available for academic year, quarter/semester, or summer students. In order to qualify for this scholarship, students must be one or more of the following: a U.S. military veteran, a non-traditional student (30 years old or older), a student with a disability, a minority student, and/or a LGBTQ student.

With the launch of its API programs in New Zealand, API is excited to announce two $500 scholarships offered per semester for API students studying at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.

CISabroad / Center for International Studies

3 scholarships available across 100 programs

CISabroad Travel Blogger Scholarship All students interested in the CISabroad Travel Blogger Scholarship must have at least a 2.5 GPA or higher and complete all scholarship application requirements (please see below for details). Recipients will be required to maintain an online journal while overseas.

$250-500 for semester programs, $250 for summer programs.

There is no GPA requirement for these scholarships. Interested students should complete all scholarship application requirements and be sure to tell us why you want to be a CISabroad Photojournalist. Recipients will be required to maintain an online photo wordpress blog with at least 100 photos by the end of their program.

$100 towards a semester or summer program plus a $100 Amazon gift card to purchase a digital camera.

There is no GPA requirement for these scholarships. Interested students should complete all scholarship application requirements and be sure to tell us why you want to be a CISabroad Videojournalist. Recipients will be required to maintain an online video wordpress blog with at least 1 video by the end of their program.

International Studies Abroad / ISA

4 scholarships available across 82 programs

In pursuit of its goals of enhancing cultural awareness and providing students with the independence and language skills necessary for the workplace, The Dr. Carlos E. Castañeda Memorial Scholarship seek to help those who may not otherwise be able to study abroad. As a testament to his early struggle and lifelong pursuit of academic excellence, ISA offers USD 58,000 annually in scholarships to be used towards ISA programs in memory of Dr. Castañeda. The Dr. Carlos E. Castañeda Memorial Scholarship are both merit and financial need-based scholarships that assist students from affiliated universities with the expenses of studying abroad. Scholarship awardees will have the opportunity to participate in the Correspondent Internship, which gives students the chance to add content to ISA’s Student blog. The student may also be given an opportunity to be part of ISA’s offices abroad based on the need of the particular office.

12 x $2000 for Fall Programs; 12 x $2,000 for Winter/Spring Programs; 2 x $2,500 for (Fall-start) Year Programs; 2 x $2,500 for (Spring-start) Year Programs

ISA offers USD 8,000 worth of scholarships annually dedicated to the memory of Michaela Farnum. Michaela was a junior studying International Business and Spanish at Seattle University and was a participant in the ISA program in Chile. Her experience was tragically cut short when she lost her life in a hiking accident in the mountains of La Campana National Park in Chile. ISA hopes that this scholarship will help aspiring study abroad students and will do so in memory of Michaela who only began to realize her dream of study abroad. The scholarship is both merit and financial need-based scholarships for the study abroad expenses for the summer term of the student awardees

8 x $1,000 for Summer Programs

The ISA Diversity Scholarships aim to encourage students of a broader cultural make-up to participate in ISA programs by offering funds to assist with the expenses of studying abroad. The scholarship amounts to USD 14,000 in awards and is to be used towards ISA programs.

ISA is offering 2 USD 1000 scholarships starting in 2016 to students who embody idea of the phrase “Live Like Ally”. Allison Willen, a Junior at Eckerd College whose life tragically ended during a hiking trip in Mt. Aspiring National Park on ISA’s semester study abroad program in New Zealand. Ally had a contagious love for life, nature, community service, and adventure. Ally was a passionate volunteer in her community, always doing what she could to make the world a better place. Students who believe they Live Like Ally and also share similar interests such as a passion for volunteering, a love for nature and hiking, and zest for life are encouraged to apply.
