It definitely was. I had been wanting to move to Egypt for years, and this was a great way to transition me into it. As much as I disagree with the dominant societal values, I will likely stay here. Cairo is a wonderful place to live! The city is chaotic, charming and diverse. So much to experience. Living in Cairo and studying at AUC has been a great way to get insight into life in the middle east, and I have also been very satisfied with the academic opportunities at AUC. Definitely worth it! - University of Bergen / UiB View Entire Review
I learned a lot about cultural exchanges. Found familiarity in customs, beliefs, values and idioms share with my Mexican American culture. - University of the Incarnate Word View Entire Review
All my classes very really interesting and of high quality. I was making a lot of progress in my Arabic class. The locals are very curious and easy-going most of the time, I had no trouble integrating. I had a lot of fun and a really good experience The only (slightly) negative thing I can think of is that the university can so... - Université de Genève / University of Geneva View Entire Review
December 20, 2018 Unexpectedly Positive
Everyone told me it was going to be hard living in Cairo, but honestly now after 4 months I’m still wondering what they were referring to. It’s been very different, and nothing is as it’s “supposed” to be but everything get done and sorted anyway, just never in the way you assumed. Which is what makes everyday in Cairo exciting.... After living by myself for 5 months in Egypt, I can easily say I was shocked by how independent and self-sufficient I became.
