Overall Experience
September 08, 2023 A Worthwhile Experience
My experience with IES Abroad was worthwhile to the ultimate extent. I was able to seek mental help to navigate through my thoughts and anxieties while abroad. I was able to connect with my professors, staff, and students to become more open-minded to the topics and lines of thought that I would have never came up with. I am not... - Drew University View Entire Review
Besides the enriching academic knowledge I gained, my experience abroad taught me more about what I want out of life, how to get outside of my comfort zone, and how to improve my work-life balance. All of these lessons have been carried with me even beyond my experience abroad, and I would whole-heartedly say it was all worthwhi... - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
It was wonderful learning about political issues afflicting EU countries and then putting that knowledge to use during our trips. We traveled a TON, and I feel like we were able to get a better sense of regional differences & similarities. - Pomona College View Entire Review

I learned to have confidence in not knowing everything. And by learning this, I know that there is SO much more to learn. And the people who you learn with make it all worthwhile. - Texas Lutheran University View Entire Review
I learned the functions of the European Union while being able to experience different cultures. It was 100% worthwhile and I would do it all again. - Pennsylvania State University - University Park / Penn State View Entire Review
I gained a definite sense of independence and a mentality that life is largely about enjoying the present moment. I challenged myself to go out and try new things and take advantage of every opportunity that came my way because it might be the only time I will ever get to. My experience abroad was absolutely worthwhile and I wou... - Ithaca College View Entire Review
As far as academics are concerned, if you are looking for an easy-breezy semester abroad, I would not recommend this program. We took all of our classes at the IES EU center. Obviously like any institution, there are easier and harder teachers and professors, but the required 5-class course load means you will definitely be work... - Skidmore College View Entire Review

VERY worthwhile. I got a very good understanding of what it means to be "European" and how different each country is despite the location. Classes revolve around history/ politics of Europe. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review My Eu Experience
I learned more than I thought possible about the EU, which is the focus of the program. I also feel like I am much, much more streetwise in an international setting, and will be more confident travelling in the future. - Santa Clara University View Entire Review
Yes, I wish that a couple more classes would have fulfilled my major requirements, but I understood that this was mainly for Political Science and International Relations majors. - Wofford College View Entire Review
I gained an invaluable experience while abroad that left me with the greatest memories of my life. It was absolutely worthwhile and, although I was hesitant and nervous to go at first, I cannot imagine not going now. I also gained a more globalized worldview, and learned that Europe and the rest of the world are very invested in... - Santa Clara University View Entire Review

I was able to skip an entire year of German after my experience, which was a huge bonus, as well as I got to learn a lot about myself.
