August 31, 2019 Great Experience!
Learnt a lot about Japanese local culture! - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It was so worthwhile. I got a very different perspective, not just on America, and living abroad, and the work culture at my home school, but also on myself and what is important to me. As much as Japanese culture excepts conformity, Tokyo as a city somehow forces you to be yourself by finding the pieces of it that make you ha... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned how to be more independent. Also, it allowed me to experience how it feels to live in a busy city. Therefore, I would say my experience abroad was worthwhile. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
September 19, 2017 Tokyo Arts & Sciences
I've never been outside of the US before and I honestly believe that there wasn't a better place for me to visit. Japan is a beautiful country with kind people. CIEE supported my transition into my host country seamlessly and assisted me along the way. They gave me autonomy to explore but provided services as needed. Our field t... - Brandeis University View Entire Review

Past Review Tokyo
Most of my classes are very interesting and I improved my Japanese. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I improved my language and made some valuable connections there. Academically though it was not particularly satisfying. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned how to make time for the things I really wanted to do in Japan and in Tokyo. I was there to study, but I didn't want that to take about from exploring the country. - Brandeis University View Entire Review

February 04, 2020 Japan Is Awesome
I learned what it's like to live in a different culture. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned the different customs within cultures that differ from America. In addition, I improved my Japanese and accepted the nerve-wracking feelings one can get from not being able to communicate in a foreign language. - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
August 31, 2019 Great Time!
Learnt how to read Japanese words - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned how to be more independent, and also more about myself. It was definitely worthwhile! I learned about how I feel more comfortable in large cities, and how I don't need many friends, just a few I really click with. I think I might've noticed this before the program, but the program really solidify this information so th... - Brandeis University View Entire Review

In my program, I was surrounded by American students from all around the states. This reminded me that there are people who have drastically different ways of life than me--people who don't necessarily value the same things that I and my peers at Brandeis do. It was disappointing, and eye opening, to hear the harmful things comi... - Brandeis University View Entire Review

I have expressed many positive thoughts about studying abroad. As of this review, I have graduated from my home university and decided to enroll in one more semester abroad outside of my home university and host program. Therefore, yes, my experience studying abroad is more than worthwhile--it is a memory I will carry with me ... - Becker College View Entire Review
I gained a better understand of Japanese culture and language, through cultural activities, bonding with my host family, and exploring the country. It was definitely a worthwhile experience. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
My Japanese language skills improved considerably through Japanese class and living with a host family. I'm also glad that I met students from other American colleges who were not in the CIEE program, foreign students who were Sophia students, and Japanese Sophia students. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Past Review Japan With Ciee
Definitely worthwhile. Learned so much about Japanese culture and politics. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It is definitely worthwhile. Living and studying in a foreign speaking country for couple of month is really challenging, but you can learn a lot from those days, like the culture, the food and etc. You will have new friends and it is really to step out of your comfortable zone and to see the different part of the world. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned more about another culture and a whole new life style. I made a lot of new friends from all over the world (some were native Japanese, some were Americans and some were international students). I got to try new and delicious foods and travel all over Japan. Most importantly, I became more independent and learned that ... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
