I learned a lot about myself. I became extremely self-reliant and gained a ton of responsibility. While it's a bit cliche, you really do find yourself while your abroad. I thought I would be homesick and sad at times, but it was quite the opposite- My family had to remind me to stay in touch at times. And FRANCE- visiting France... - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned so much about Design. I learned how to work with and relate to people who didn't have English as a first language. I learned how to plan trips to foreign countries on my own. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
yes it was an incredible trip but mostly because of what i did with my free and personal time. The actual School program in the illustration department at Camberwell I found myself unchallenged - University of Hartford View Entire Review

It was definitely worth the time and money. It gave a big idea of who I will be competing against in the art world. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned how to be totally independent and self reliant while abroad. I experienced what it was like to be an adult and making a life for myself with all the responsibilities and tasks that came with it. Despite any of the challenges I faced while adjusting and being alone, it was definitely worthwhile and would recommend it to... - University of Hartford View Entire Review

Studying abroad was so worth it! I’ve heard people say they regretted not studying abroad and I didn’t want to be that person. I pushed my own limits going 4 months far from home and the people and things I know and love only to discover a second home. I gained more knowledge of things, surrounded myself with a different dynamic... - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned a lot from my tutors and peers which enriched and expanded my learning beyond my home university experience. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned that there are people in Europe that are special enough for my to seriously consider living forever in Europe. It was the best decision that i could've made at this stage in my life. I am very sad to have to have to interact with my European friends through mediations for a long while. - University of Hartford View Entire Review

I learned so much about other cultures and it helped me become a much more sociable person. I've changed for the better. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned a lot about myself as an American in relation to the rest of the world and how people view us. I learned a lot about my artwork and how to take it further. I learned what it was like living in a city (I live in a rural town) and it was just a really good experience. It was definitely worthwhile. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
Going abroad was 100% worthwhile. I have gained a new sense of independence and an appreciation for other cultures as well as a renewed appreciation for some of the things I take for granted at home. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
Studying abroad changed me in more ways than I can express. I became very confident and independent while in London. I spent a lot of time exploring the city by myself, which has made me feel more prepared to go out into the real world after graduation. My entire experience abroad, and with API, was positive. The worst part ... - Capital University View Entire Review

About

London, an international center of business, fine arts, design, theater, technology, politics and finance, has inspired creativity and cutting-edge innovation for centuries. There is something for everyone in London: a bustling financial district, street markets, green spaces and elaborate parks, ruins, monuments, political machinations, art galleries and museums. Monuments to Britain’s glorious past are found throughout London, including the Tower of London, the Old Royal Observatory in Greenwich, the British Museum, and Trafalgar Square. Because of its famed galleries, the energy of Soho, the history that lives in the streets, the pub scene and the tranquility of London’s parks, London is alive with sources of inspiration. University of the Arts London is a collegiate university comprising 6 international renowned colleges: Central Saint Martins, London College of Communication, Chelsea College of Arts, Camberwell College of Arts, Wimbledon College of Arts, and London College of Fashion. UAL also offers a unique scholarship opportunity - check out the API website for more information!

Programs in London Include:

  • Semester Arts with British Students: Students enroll directly alongside local undergraduate students who are full-time, degree-seeking students. Students are required to work more independently than they may be accustomed to at their home institution. While teaching is not conducted in a traditional U.S. lecture-based class setting, students receive guidance from faculty and are helped to identify the resources they need to reach course goals. Course content is delivered in a variety of ways, including individual and group tutorials, projects, seminars, lectures, and museum, gallery and studio visits.

  • Semester Arts at the University of the Arts London: These programs are usually 40% integrated with local students, and 60% tailored to study abroad students (the proportions may change with some exceptions). The teaching is generally more structured and there is more faculty support than in the integrated programs.

  • Semester Fashion Studies at London College of Fashion: LCF offers three main pathways of study – Fashion Product Design Semester, Fashion Business Semester, and Fashion Media & Communication. Students will enroll in 3 mandatory units per track and then may select elective units (up to a total of 16 semester credits). The London College of Fashion programs also includes a trip to Paris, France! Students will gain a unique perspective through guided city tours, museum and gallery visits, and other cultural exploration.

  • Summer Arts at University of the Arts London: UAL's colleges specialize in art, design, communications, fashion, and the performing arts, and is the largest provider of higher level education in the arts in Europe. All the colleges are located in London and each college is at the heart of their respective communities. Summer students earn 90 contact hours per summer term. Multiple summer terms are available!

  • Summer Fashion Studies at London College of Fashion: Students who choose to study abroad in London will select a “course of study” from London College of Fashion, including Introduction to Fashion Business Summer School, Introduction to Fashion Design Summer School, and Footwear Design Summer School. The courses are open to students at all levels of experience and are designed to provide an intense, technical and creative approach to the subject matter and offer a curriculum of practical activity to enhance the learning process.
