API (Academic Programs International): London - University of the Arts, London

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Yes it was-- I learned more about England, myself, the world. It made me challenge my ideas about art. It was difficult some days but mostly it was just so amazing to see some place new and meet new people.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I liked being introduced to new ideas and being pushed intellectually but I wish I had more one on one counseling from the tutors and the resources were difficult for me to use as a foreign student.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

API --more specifically Rachel-- did a great job preparing us for our trip but the weaknesses mostly come with UAL which I found to be a bit confusing in certain ways.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing worked out fine but I would have liked better amenities (but I mean I can't really complain--it was in a great location and I am sure it was the most cost effective option).

* Food:

There were not many food accommodations given to me on the trip but the local restaurants were great and food at the grocery stores was much cheaper than in the US to my surprise.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The are so many interesting people in London -- I really liked the atmosphere

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I am glad I didn't get ill because I had no insurance!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Yikes that pound is pricey! its hard to budget when the exchange rate is painful.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? luggage at the airport when traveling is always costly

Language

If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Do not study in England if you already know English
