"I gained a better awareness and love for the multicultural realities that exist in our world and gained a lot of self confidence by speaking Arabic daily and stretching myself by traveling and living in a place so different from what I defined as familiar five months ago. In other words, now the medina in Rabat and the US feel b..."

"I really enjoyed the program. Freiburg is a great place. You will learn so much about German culture - it's a great immersion experience. Although in order to enhance your German, you must take the personal initiative and practice with locals. Classes were not difficult, but the course material was very interesting. Traveli..."

"GO ABROAD!! You learn so much about yourself and others. You learn how to be more independent, make decisions, and to just enjoy. It is hard to put into words how much I loved my experience (despite complications with administration) because it's really up to each person to craft their own experience. "
Ariela N Wellesley College
"I've gained a lot more self-confidence in expressing my thoughts and opinions after being frequently needing to speak up in my seminars no matter if I felt that I was not able to always speak in German as well I wanted to. I think was worthwhile overall."

"Living on your own but at the same time knowing that help and support is available anytime. Immersing into a fully-german academic environment."

"I think this has be the most challenging and rewarding year of my life. I would do this year over in a heartbeat, but I would definitely do things differently. I learned so much not only about other cultures and language, but also about myself. Keep trying to make friends, even though it's hard. Persevere. "

"I learned about foreign languages/cultures/customs, as well as learned a lot about myself. It was certainly worthwhile."
Gillian D B Wellesley College
"I gained so much from this program, and most of that derived from the fact that the visiting students were very separated from the undergrads. I would usually describe myself as an ambivert with the heart of an extrovert, but the head of an introvert. It's very hard for me to be self-motivated to meet people and, initially when ..."

"Studying abroad was one of the best decisions of my life. I met so many students from around the world and gained so many unique experiences as a result of living in another country. SOAS was a great place to study given my major and my interests. I would definitely go back!"
A student Wellesley College
"I can write essays more efficiently and am better at organising my own work time. I know more about the ways I learn best, and how far I can (and can't push myself). It was a difficult year in many ways, but ultimately a very rewarding one. "

"It was difficult moving to a new place with little of the language and no one I knew! Though it took quite a while to settle in, I'm really grateful for the time I spent in Paris. Traveling around Europe was also life changing, very worthwhile!"

"Language was the biggest thing. Host family is amazing to live with. Travel opportunities wonderful!"
A student Wellesley College
"I gained much more travel experience; I was able to visit countries that I don't think I would otherwise ever get to see. I learned a lot more Spanish, and a lot more about Spanish culture as well. It's one thing to read about Spain and speak Spanish in class, it's another to experience it firsthand. "

"It was definitely worthwhile. I had no previous experience with Arabic, and was able to learn some basics. "

"Oxford had a very different environment compared to Wellesley, which made me thought that I've changed completely as a person. I use to not enjoy reading that much, but that completely changed while I was at oxford because of the learning environment. It was also my first time in Europe and I tried to travel to other cities and ..."

"I didn't realize until I came back how much I had changed while I was abroad. I learned what to prioritize in life and what made me happy. It was definitely worth every hardship and existential crisis!"
Wendy W Wellesley College
"It was definitely a worthwhile experience. My French speaking and listening skills improved vastly, and I gained a level of confidence which I hadn't really had before."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to live on my own in a foreign country and I think that that is a very valuable experience."
A student Wellesley College
"The most worthwhile thing for me was the experience of living on my own in a city, in a flat rather than a dorm. That was a valuable lesson in independence, and I definitely think it was worthwhile. I also appreciated this program because it was so different from my home college. It was good to experience a different kind of uni..."
