I gained a lot of independence and German skills. I travelled a LOT, and I really enjoyed my classes. However, I only had to be on campus 2 days a week, and therefore never felt integrated into campus life at all. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
It was worthwhile, but I do wish everything was on the same level as the quality of the program itself. The number one thing I learned is that I will never live in a dorm ever again Rostyk Y - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I thought the local university and the city was amazing, however the disorganization and negligence of the local Middlebury staff overshadowed it A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I think the biggest thing I can take away is the improvement to my German skills. Additionally, I think it was worthwhile for the experience outside the somewhat stressful academic setting. Having to adapt to German culture and just the expectations around how work, bureacracy, life, etc. gets done was also extremely valuable. middleburystudentinberlin - Williams College View Entire Review

I learned to be independent. For the first time in my life, I was responsible my own living space. I was also forced to learn to cook. I left for Berlin feeling like a young adult and returned feeling like an adult. Nick Hendrix - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Absolutely worthwhile. Best year of my life. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Academics wise most classes I took were of genuine interest to me, especially the two related to gender. I also gained exposure to knowledge about Europe from a European perspective. My favorite part of the program has to be my internship, where I got to practice my German in a more "real-life" setting and put my different langu... I learned a lot about my personal preferences, goals and values. I learned how to spend time by myself, navigate new and complex situations alone, pushed my limits in many ways, and met new people. Emmet S - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Learned a lot about myself being in Berlin on my own, which was worthwhile, but the lack of value I felt like I was getting from my courses made it hard. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned a lot of important life skills while abroad and had plenty of opportunities to push myself out of my comfort zone. I gained a lot of confidence in my adaptability when navigating living in the city. I learned how to use the public transportation system, which I always felt intimidated by before the experience. It was worthwhile for sure! I loved living in Berlin, it is an incredible city with many experiences to offer- there's really something for everyone here. I learned a lot in my classes and noticeably improved my German, which were after all my primary reasons for coming, so I'm by no means disappointed. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review

I learned a lot about myself and expanded my comfort zone a great deal while abroad. Coming from a small town of less than 8,000 people, I had never lived in a big city before. It was a massive change as well as having a deal with a foreign language at the same time. I was very overwhelmed when I first got there but after about ...
