Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"From my study abroad experience, I took away the experience of independence as well as a greater appreciation for America and my friends and family. I believe my Spanish did improve but not as much as I had hoped it would. Spain is not a country I would like to visit again or live in. My cultural awareness has changed from all t..."

"I lived completely independently. I had an apartment with wonderful flatmates, did my own grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning. I could walk anywhere I wanted to go. I could travel the world with my friends - Europe was right at our back door. It was the most freeing experience I have ever had. "
Courtney R Tulane University
"It was worth while. I learned so much from the culture and everything else. This experience will last me a lifetime"

"It was so worth while. I've learned so much about another country, another culture as well as about myself and my country. It gives you such perspective to view your own country from the eyes of a different country. I loved every minute of it, and I would do it all over again in a heart beat. "

"The experience in Korea was an eye opener for me because Seoul was a whole another world from Japan or Hawaii. Not being able to speak the language made my life difficult at times but those moments were important for me as a student. Seeing Korean culture and spending time with Korean people was definitely one of the most extrao..."

"YES YES YES!!! I came to understand a lot about myself and I feel much more confident now in social and travel situations because of my time abroad. I also gained a different perspective on America by discussing the US with people from other countries. I formed lasting friendships and hope to be able to return soon to visit. Als..."

"Having met many Korean people prior to this trip, this experience has helped me better understand those people's native culture and identity. This thus allows me to better relate myself to those people and its cultures abroad. Nevertheless, this hasn't affected my academic interests or plans for the future. "

"My experience was very worthwhile. I gained confidence in my adopted culture and language and through interaction with students, locals and the friends I made I learned a lot about how Mexicans, but specifically Xalapanoes see the world and some of the big issues in their country and the world. Academically/future plan-wise I ..."

"There were several dissatisfactory and frustrating aspects about the experience that I believe could have been easily remedied, but despite these frustrations, the experience was worth it. The opportunity to practice German and live in a country where travel to other parts of Europe was easily available was excellent. The exposu..."

"I learned so much about the world, and moreover MYSELF! You discover your weaknesses and strengths, especially when it comes to meeting new people and being in a completely new place. Studying abroad, no matter what country it is, will open up your mind, and make you see how completely shallow the American way of life is (unfo..."

"Yes. I feel silly answering this question, it's a bit too broad and vague. I mean, I lived in an entirely different country and witnessed a thousand things which were different from the U.S., and a thousand things that were the same. You take both and learn from them. That's all I got."
William B Gettysburg College
"My study abroad time was very worthwhile. It reminded me that there is a bgiger world than the Rice campus and gave me more confidence in my future plans."
Jessica S Rice University
"I think that it was worthwhile and I don't regret my decision. I just was a little disappointed that it was too international. I came to Japan hoping to experience a completely different culture and wanting to experience culture shock."
Anastasia A University of Northern Colorado

"I am such a better person because I did this. I went to Valencia to learn Spanish, but I accomplished much more than this. I gained the best friends I've ever had and got to travel to France, Italy, Morocco, and all around Spain. I had the time of my life. "
Charlotte M The University of Texas at Austin
"The study abroad experience was invaluable, and I'm extremely happy that I went for a full-year instead of a single semester. After my time abroad, I feel that I am more able to understand the Chinese perspective, including the Chinese idea of "face" and "losing face". I also learned how to be assertive in a country of over 1-bi..."
