What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Besides that one biology course. My experience was amazing. I wasn't there only for class and the atmosphere was great, the people were friendly and the experience was priceless. Definitely something I would do again.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes weren't as good as my home school and the only grading measurement was one final exam. If you did poorly on that exam all students get a chance to make it up in August, but for visiting students, like myself, if we could not fly back on the short notice, we would fail.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It was definitely suitable. Not overly nice or lacking anything. The staff was helpful enough but it was hard because the international students were the only people there on weekends and holidays and were left to fend for ourselves.

* Food:

We bought our own food. The town had many good pubs and places to eat.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I met amazing people and got the chance to live with natives. Made great friends.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? The experience was amazing, but students should be aware that the actual classes and grading is very different from our home institutions.

Comments: This is the class I was referring to. Although I am a liberal arts major at home, I took a biology course in Ireland. I attended all the classes including 3 hours every week of lab work. After doing poorly on my final I was told I could either fly there to take the repeat final that all students were eligible for or lose all credit. I lost all credit because of lack of funds to fly back.
