Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"I learned more then I could imagine in my study abroad experience. I learned about myself, immersed myself in Taiwanese culture, made lots of friends, saw a lot of interesting places, improved my language skills, ate very good and unique food, and learned about interacting with people of different cultures."
Shang Y Illinois State University
"Yes, definitely. Not only did I have the amazing opportunity to see a bit of Europe, experience the rich culture, and practice my German, I also learned a lot about my self. It was a marvelous time of reflection for me. I learned what my limits are, and I got close to my host family. "
Julie T Illinois State University
"From studying abroad, I learned that I have very capable of being independent and taking care of myself. I also was forced to step out of my comfort zone, and at first I was very nervous of this, but after the initial shock I found it very easy to open up to the Belgians and try to incorporate myself into their culture. My study..."

"It was worthwhile to learn Spanish. That was my main goal and immersion is necessary to achieve that goal. It definitely made me realize that I hold some prejudices that I did not even know I could have. It was also a good respite from the rigors of Wellesley. It worked with my budget as well. "
Dorthea D Wellesley College
"The program itself and it's personnel are superb. I just didn't like my too easy courses and didn't "click" with my host family. But it was worthwhile, and the excursions were a great learning experience for me. "
Jacqueline M Wellesley College
"It gave me new insights into the Japanese culture as well as my own. The friends that I've made and the things that I have learned here will stick with me for life."
Alyssa S Central Washington University
"Undoubtedly the most worthwhile experience of my life. Egypt is a fantastic place! I absolutely loved my time abroad, and I wish I were still there. I feel very connected to Egypt, I made long-lasting friendships. I am right there with the Egyptians during their protests (in spirit, clearly), and would never feel so strongly if ..."

"My particular study abroad experience was not worthwhile, because I was expecting so much more from this program which did nothing but fail in every regard. I was highly disappointed. What this program DID teach, though, was self-sufficiency and the virtue of tremendous independence. If those are your objectives, by all means!..."
Nicole K Tufts University
"Absolutely worthwhile. I feel like a different person, although I can't pinpoint how I have changed( too soon). Going outside of your comfort zone, not speaking the language, meeting new people who have a completely different lifestyle, and being in an unfamiliar place I think shows your true colors so to speak and shows how ada..."

"I thought it was a great experience. If I had more money I would have traveled more while I was there. The school was great overall and I got to meat some new and interesting people. If you do decide to go there make sure you take a cooking class, you might as well take home a little piece of Italy back home with you. "
Lisa D Illinois State University
"Hong Kong is a place where you'll see many things both similar and different from the US. you'll definitely notice some major cultural differences in your first couple days there. Sometimes it can be a little daunting, but it all adds to the fun. "
Matthew H University of Hawaii - Manoa

"It absolutely was worth every penny! And those penny's didn't add up to much either which was another huge plus! Thanks to my experience abroad my desire to learn Chinese has greatly increased and I actually plan to work abroad in Taiwan for at least a few years. It also allowed me to take a look at American culture in a new lig..."
