I fell in love with Egypt! Past Review

Study Abroad in Egypt at the American University in Cairo

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Undoubtedly the most worthwhile experience of my life. Egypt is a fantastic place! I absolutely loved my time abroad, and I wish I were still there. I feel very connected to Egypt, I made long-lasting friendships. I am right there with the Egyptians during their protests (in spirit, clearly), and would never feel so strongly if I hadn't gone there and made my experience as Egyptian as possible. Where ever you decide to go abroad, make friends with the people who live there. You'll get a true experience. Just remember it's not always about the academics. In fact, it isn't about the academics. It's about your experience in the country itself- that's the important part. The things you learn while living abroad amongst other people and other cultures is much more important than what you learn at school.
