Overall Experience
I gained lots of independence, learned a lot about myself, had a lot of downfalls, grew stronger as a person, and learned how to cook. It was worthwhile. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned so much about France that I cannot fit it all in this box. I learned French history, which allowed me to understand the French more. I watched TV shows that gave me talking points with my neighbors and host parents. I traveled and got to experience different cultures that put into perspective the differences with Frenc... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Wellesley In Aix
It was worthwhile: I made leaps and bounds in my French abilities (which was my goal for going abroad). However, I didn't really enjoy Aix as a city and would have preferred going somewhere else 2nd semester. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
The experience of being abroad in general is so worthwhile, and exploring it all in a different language and culture is just insanely beneficial. No matter what your major, life direction/career path, whatever, living in a country where you really need to change your focus is soooo helpful. And you won't know it until you get th... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Life Changing
Certainly worthwhile. So many things I learned outside of the classroom that I could not have learned anywhere else. - Tufts University View Entire Review
I learned a lot about the history of Europe and about our development as a country. It was definitely worthwhile. I traveled a lot throughout Europe. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My French improved. I was able to take better notes in class and speak it more fluently. But being an international student, I've already seen the culture and knew what to expect in France, so the experience in Paris and Aix didn't really fascinate me. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My French has improved so much. I would not be able to speak as proficiently had I not spent the semester abroad. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Eye Opening!
It was definitely worth while. I was able to explore Europe for the first time. I loved my host family and will always stay in contact with them. I felt that my French (comprehension, writing, speaking) definitely improved. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned how much I appreciate the American university system and overall the American way of life. It was a nice semester to hang out and relax, and it certainly made me appreciate what I left back home, but I would not do it again. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I think I gained more confidence in my academic potential and more determination to excel in my classes at Wellesley. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I gained an entirely new perspective on life and the world around me. Living as a foreigner for an entire year was a very valuable life experience that taught me to think in new ways, made me more of a global citizen, and helped me grow into a confident and considerate young adult. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I gained better language skills, which allowed me to interact with people around me. I experienced a great culture and made lifelong friends that definitely made the experience worthwhile. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Absolutely worthwhile. I learned a tremendous amount about living on my own, how to take care of myself, and how I react to new situations. The language immersion was wonderful, which I didn't think I'd enjoy before I left for France. The courses at the FAC were an experience, probably most useful for highlighting differences in... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I gained a much greater understanding of the French language and of French culture. It was definitely worthwhile! - Wellesley College View Entire Review
French language competency, college credit. Many other things, I had a wonderful time. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Improved my language and interpersonal skills, became well-versed in french culture, and met a wonderful host family who became part of my real family to me. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I gained a great deal of confidence and undeniably improved my command of French. I'm very glad I went to Aix for the semester--the pace of life is relaxed and slow, and I really felt that I enjoyed life. Lovely food and the beautiful weather. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My French has definitely improved, and that was my goal. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
language fleuncy, freinds, life experiences, met great people - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned a lot about myself, but it is hard to quantify or articulate what exactly it was that I learned (other than the language, of course). - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I became more independent, responsible, and calm in stressful/new situations. I learned to live completely on my own and navigate a new culture. I learned a lot about the French way of life, and I gained a new perspective on the western world. It was most definitely a worthwhile experience. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I am now fluent in French, and even better, I know how to communicate with young people- not just talk like a grammatically correct grandmother! - Tufts University View Entire Review
It was worthwhile, I grew intellectually and personally by a significant amount. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned alot of life lessons from my experience abroad, met life-long friends in the program, and improved my French skills tremendously. For these reasons, not for academic reasons, it was very worthwhile. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
