After living by myself for four months and having to problem-solve, all while in a foreign country, I gained a great amount of confidence in myself. Additionally, I was able to enrich my cultural knowledge through visiting museums and other various French landmarks, and I improved my faculty in the French language. My experience was so worthwhile. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I learned about myself and was able to explore my independence. But I learned through this experience that if you make the most of it it will cha... Monica J - Saint Anselm College View Entire Review
I absolutely loved my summer in Paris. It was definitely a challenging experience at first, adapting to a brand new culture that I hadn't had the opportunity to experience yet, but once the initial culture shock wore off I came to realize that I actually really appreciated French culture. It was absolutely worthwhile! I learned a lot about who I am because I met so many new people from so many different backgrounds. I was able to learn others people's points of views and beliefs, and then compare them to my own. I really loved seeing through new lenses and recreating my own. Programs in Paris Includes:
Semester French Language and Liberal Arts: Students who choose to study abroad in Paris select a combination of French language and cultural electives, referred to as French Civilization courses. The number of credits earned for each language course and the cultural electives varies according to the particular session a student selects. Along with the language and French Civilization courses, students have the opportunity to take additional electives in English and French. Additionally, as indicated below, in some sessions the French Civilization electives are available only to students at specific levels. A student’s French level is based on a placement exam administered by the ICP. The ICP follows the European Framework for their language levels, dividing students into the following: A1-1, A1-2, A2-1, A2-2, B1-1, B1-2, B2-1 and B2-2.
Short-Term Intensive French Language Studies: The intensive month session provides a general overview of French language study for all levels for those who wish to study abroad in Paris for a short-term. Students attend French language classes as well as 2 workshops in oral French, phonetics, written French, and/or grammar, according to their level and ability. This program is perfect for the student looking for a January term course or is looking to advance their French language prior to a spring semester program. Overnight excursions are not included in the cost of the intensive month sessions but can be added for an extra fee when available.
