"How to learn independently and absorb other cultures."
Kelechi Alfred-Igbokwe Wellesley College
"I gained a better understanding of life in Jordan an acquired sharper language skills. The only way to truly learn a language is to be immersed and to be forced to utilize it in class and in everyday life. For this reason, CET is a very worthwhile program. "

"I realized how academically intensive Wellesley is and I was appreciative for its strong academic support programs."

"One of the best decisions I made while in Seoul was to actively seek out a new experience every weekend, whether it be to go hiking, see a show, or just explore a new area of the city. Along with that, while living off campus was not planned it did provide me with a feeling of further immersion within the city. I was able to est..."

"I learned how to handle uncomfortable situations. For example, while I was traveling, I got lost in Vienna for two hours. I did not have cellular data (which unfortunately we rely so much on in this generation), so there were moments like that where I was forced to figure it out and navigate, and ask people for help when I was c..."

"I learned a lot about Portugal, gained a lot of language skills by seeking out Portuguese communities (I joined a local rugby team), and became very comfortable living in a foreign city. It was worthwhile, but I wish the academic situation had been better."
Siena Harlin Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about myself and what I could handle, and it was definitely worthwhile and am so glad I came. "

"I learned a lot in my classes but I also learned how to live independently and take care of myself in a foreign country. During my time abroad, I got to travel around Scotland and to other European countries. From my travels, I have found that Scotland, and Edinburgh in particular, has such a distinct culture and vibe from citie..."

"Living in a community that is so different from my own was certainly worthwhile and gave me a new perspective on how issues I study, like conservation, should be addressed."

"Studying, living, and traveling in a foreign country boosted my self-confidence in a way that nothing else could. I am coming back to my life in the States as a more confident, articulate, and compassionate person having experienced a new culture, successfully created a life for myself, and gained a new perspective on the world...."
Clare Auld-Brokish Wellesley College
"I had an opportunity to meet incredible people, especially because the Stockholm program was so small, and to explore Sweden and Denmark as my homes away from home. It was a very worthwhile experience."
Sarah Legried Wellesley College
"I gained confidence in myself and my abilities, learned more about what I want from a future career, learned about other cultures and perspectives, and it was incredibly worthwhile."

"Becoming better acquainted with Danish culture was definitely worthwhile; understanding some of the issues in modern Danish society gave me a better appreciation for the United States and other countries I had previously visited. At the same time, I'm appreciative of the opportunity to have learned about Danish culture, understo..."

"I learned about racial relations in contexts out side of the US that, although I thought I understood previously, I realized I didn't fully get before. I was given a non-western perspective for the first time and was able to question things that I had blindly accepted before. "
Emilia B Wellesley College
"My study abroad experience was amazing, I learnt so much from my classes and my classmates."
Salma M Wellesley College
"I gained so much understanding of Islamic and Omani culture and have completely changed my ideas on what knowledge is absolute- from the importance of individuals to free-market economics. "
omanfall2010 Wellesley College
"I was able to take graduate level courses and learned a lot. There weren't a lot of academic resources available since the tutorial system encourages self-teaching and there are fewer resources online for grad level courses. However, it was nice to be able to take classes covering content not typically covered in undergrad cours..."

"I think that I gained a lot of confidence from my year abroad that I desperately needed. Living alone for the first time in a huge, kind of unforgiving city made me approach problems in a more confident and methodical way. "
Hannah Preble Wellesley College
"It was definitely worthwhile! I learned about the connections we have with people from different places and how to learn from one another's values. "
A student Wellesley College
"I improved my Japanese skills a lot through this program and was able to learn about the local culture and environment through my work as an intern and my experience joining a school organization. I also became much more independent and now feel comfortable supporting myself in a foreign environment."
A student Wellesley College
"I made some lifelong friends and took classes that are not offered at my school. Yes, it was worthwhile."
A student Wellesley College
"I loved being immersed into the the Greek Culture! It was completely worthwhile, and I will cherish my time in Athens forever!"
A student Wellesley College
"So worthwhile. An important break from my home university, and also very developmental for me to be on the otherside of the world."
Nolen Belle Bryant Wellesley College
"It was definitely worthwhile studying abroad in London. The area around Goldsmiths UOL is very diverse, and affordable compared to central London. It also feels less touristy with an abundance of inexpensive food markets, smaller local art shows and shops, and community events going on. Generally, there is no shortage of fun and..."
