The language pledge was challenging but incredibly rewarding. Because every moment of the day was lived in Chinese, every moment of the day was a chance to learn and grow. Since being back, I still think about my time in China almost every day. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review

Language was the biggest gain obviously. But I learned so much about art and ethinic minority art and history and their relationships with the Chinese government. I also personally was awakened to my religion after needing to turn to God given how ridiculously difficult this program was on me in the beginning. Chelsea A. - Bates College View Entire Review

About
Located in Southwest China and close to several countries in Southeast Asia, Kunming is known as the “City of Eternal Spring”.Kunming’s parks—combined with the temperate climate of Southeast Asia—make it a very livable city with a strong “outdoor” culture. Kunming is very multicultural, clearly demonstrating the influences of the 26 different ethnic groups living in Yunnan Province. Our host in Kunming, Yunnan University (YNU), is centrally located in Kunming’s charming and bustling downtown area, adjacent to the Green Lake and its adjoining park. As a comprehensive university, YNU has programs in most academic disciplines but is particularly recognized for its departments of anthropology and environmental studies.
