"The ECCO program was extremely worthwhile because it gave me the chance to become fluent in Italian by requiring me to use it on a daily basis and in a variety of settings. I also learned valuable information about Italian history, art, literature, food, music, and culture! "

"I learned to be responsible and to take care of myself while I was abroad. It was worthwhile to live on my own in a new city because I learned to be independent."

"I love Denmark. The thought processes and styles of living are deceivingly different. You'd think that the cultures are similar but actually they have such fundamental differences that I learned a TON "

"There's so much to learn and experience about the world outside of the United States. Travel between European states deemed much cheaper than expected, surprisingly, so it was great to experience different cultures in such close proximity to one another. I also learned a lot about my family's heritage through a genealogical sear..."

"I feel like a more competent person. I was able to travel around Europe on my own or in a small group without always having phone/internet access. I am much better at reading maps and my German and French have improved. I met some incredible people that I don't think I would have met otherwise."

A student Wellesley College
"Yes. I gained an independence and self-confidence in being able to learn a foreign language and navigate a different culture. I also made an effort to travel and went to a few places by myself (I spent Semana Santa hiking the Camino de Santiago in Galicia), which was incredibly worthwhile and completely recommended. Traveling al..."

"Adapting to a different university curriculum was very challenging and helped me grow as a writer and academic. I became more confidence in my independence and self. I reached out to organizations I wanted to be a part of based on my interests rather than career goals. I was on the LSE football team and strongly recommend joinin..."

"I learned that cultural dynamics often vary. What is taboo or sensitive to say in the US may not be the same in the UK. People are generally friendly wherever you go. Schools like SOAS are gems for diversity and cultural exchange."
Victoria Y Wellesley College

"I learned that I love to travel and meet new people and that I can do it, on my own or with friends. I learned not to be afraid to try something new or go somewhere new. You don't always need someone else with you to go out and do what you want."
A student Wellesley College
"I have always had a passion for traveling, and this was the perfect opportunity for me to be based someplace really cool with a lot of things going on, but also the perfect gateway to the rest of Europe. I feel like I learned a lot about myself while I was there, and was given the time to do so. The Dutch's school system is diff..."
