"I improved my language skills significantly, learned how to adapt to a different living situation and be more understanding of cultural differences, and learned more about the French way of life."
A student Wellesley College
"My study abroad experience was definitely worth it, and I only wish I could've extended it to a full year."
Susan P Wellesley College
"I was challenged in ways I wasn't otherwise at Wellesley: by language barriers, cultural barriers, travel logistics, safety concerns, social challenges, time zones, and scheduling. All of these challenges forced me to grow and mature much faster than I otherwise would during a semester at Wellesley."
A student Wellesley College
"My study abroad experience was worthwhile, because being on my own taught me how to be more independent and rely on myself. It also broadened my horizons because I traveled to places I had never been to before. "
Marwah M Wellesley College
"My study abroad experience definitely marks the best 5 months of my life. I made some incredible life-long friends while I was in Australia and got to visit some amazing sites. Furthermore, I feel that I've obtained a heightened sense of maturity due to my experience abroad. You are forced to live completely on your own, which c..."

"I learned a new language and the challenges of trying to express yourself when you are speaking a foreign language. I feel like my speaking capabilities not only in French but also in English have improved, and my classes even come more easily to me now since they're no longer in French. It was totally worth it."
Hallie Pimperl Wellesley College
"It was absolutely worthwhile. I felt that I got to understand the entire world better, I got to better understand the roots of Western civilization. I got to meet people from completely different background from my own. I got to express myself freely and discover who I am away from the communities I used to be surrounded by. I l..."

"It was my first real opportunity to live on my own in a city and be responsible for my own meals, shopping, well-being, etc. I gained an extraordinary amount of independence and a real passion for self-guided study. My experience abroad was completely worthwhile. "

"I gained not only language skills, but confidence in myself and independence. I really pushed the boundaries of what I was comfortable with, and now I feel empowered to pursue all sorts of opportunities I may not have considered before. It was completely worthwhile. "
Madeleine S Wellesley College
"I wanted my study abroad experience to be a time of exploration and self-reflection, with less focus on academics than I have at home. I only had three classes (unless you're in the sciences, you'll likely have 3 classes max), and was pleasantly surprised when one of them ended up being my favorite class of all time. The other t..."

"Yes, it was very worthwhile. I not only passed the first level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test, but also met amazing friends and my lovely host family. I have learned a lot about Japan, and if my future allows, I want to definitely go back to Japan to travel/volunteer/work. "
Min Kyoung K Wellesley College
"Absolutely worthwhile. I learned a tremendous amount about living on my own, how to take care of myself, and how I react to new situations. The language immersion was wonderful, which I didn't think I'd enjoy before I left for France. The courses at the FAC were an experience, probably most useful for highlighting differences in..."

"I honestly learned so much that it is not feasible to put into words. I learned about imbedded internationally imposed structures of inequality, community, privilege, and so much more. It was 100% worthwhile."
Sophia Y Wellesley College

A student Wellesley College
"It was a humbling experience, because the students I was with are really exceptional, and it was a strange thing to find myself in the middle of the pack. However, it's also hurt my confidence a little bit in Physics, and I'll need to see if I'm really going to put Physics before Computer Science (my minor) in the end. It was ..."
