University Information
The Office of Study Abroad supports Brandeis students who participate on any of our 300 approved programs in some 65 different countries around the world.
On average 40% of the junior class studied abroad during the academic year while still more students took advantage of various international opportunities in the summer. There is a huge diversity of transformative experiences that Brandeis students have engaged in abroad including studying biodiversity conservation hands on in Panama, conducting ethnographic research on sacred figures in Mongolia, interning with Parliament in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and interning in special education classrooms in Sydney, Australia to name a few.
Whatever your story, journey or adventure is destined to be, come by our office to learn more about the steps to going away!
Additionally, by logging in to Abroad101, all approved programs will be tagged with an "Approved" badge.

"I gained a little more insight into my personal background as a Korean-American and a look into cultural customs. It was worthwhile and a memorable experience! The only reason I wouldn't choose the same program is because of personal reasons; as a Korean-American I wish I had chosen somewhere a little more out of my comfort zone..."

"I learned how to survive in London on my own and adjust to the cultural and language differences. I also learned how to study within a UK university and how to take assessments at the graduate level. I also learned a lot about other cultures from traveling to other cities and countries during my breaks, many of which I would nev..."

"While I'm not sure my German got exceptionally better (partly because I'm already at a high level, so progress is slower now), my vocabulary did expand, and I got more comfortable/less embarrassed speaking in my second language. "I learned a lot about Sweden through my host family and through my courses. It was really cool to learn about the fields I have chosen to study, through a Swedish lens. I loved my host family, I loved the friends I made (a lot of whom were also homestay students), and I loved Stockholm. This program was definitely worthwhile. "

"I learned a lot about the intersection of Korean history and culture especially related to the effects of Japanese colonialism and American neo-colonialism. These two periods of Korean history alone have shaped so many different aspects of Korean society including governance. This was one of the reasons why I was really excited ..."

"My experience was definitely worthwhile! Accommodations were great, socially it was a blast and to be honest, there is nothing better than being in Rome. I had access to Florence and Venice as well as flying abroad. My only difficulty was that the Italian class was not in a style I enjoyed, and the Roman history class was not as..."

"First of all, I haven't seen such a long reading list for one week.... It intimidated me in the beginning of the year; however, I could find myself getting comfortable with the materials and actually enjoyed for some interested topics.
