University Information
Baylor students are eligible to study abroad with a GROUP STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM or an EXCHANGE/AFFILIATE PROGRAM. Both types of programs are available in the summer and during the semester, some for a full year. It is possible, and encouraged, to study abroad more than once during a student's Baylor career and students may choose any program that interests them. Each program has a faculty or staff member who oversees the program and will be able to answer any specific questions a student might have.

"Due to the fact that I only had class 3 times a week, I had to administer a way to study, travel, and have an active social life. Thus, in its own way, I learned some valuable time management skills."

"Everything? Can I just say that? Of course it was worthwhile, I learned so much and came back a very different person. I'd rather not spend the next two hours talking about the almost infinite number of things I gained and learned from the experience, also, most of these things are indescribable, so I'll stop there."
Zachary B Baylor University
"I learned how to better adapt, appreciate differences and changes, manage independence, and see life through so many different perspectives. Cliché, but easily one of the best experiences of my life."
Mary A Baylor University
"Goodness, I learned SO much from my experience abroad. I learned so much about South African culture, a lot of European countries' cultures, and people around the world. I learned what it's like to not have water nor electricity for hours. I learned how to love people deeper and wider, and how to appreciate every small detail of..."

"It is good to be quiet and observe, being a good listener is very helpful. Dress modestly and behave in the same manner. I learned a lot about the Muslim Religion and their customs. My experience in Egypt was wonderful, everything I could have hoped for. I truly wish the University did not find it necessary to keep closing f..."

"Seeing how other countries run their businesses and the different aspects of how the meetings were handled provided invaluable experience. It was definitely worthwhile and had a ton of fun to boot!"

"The experience was beyond worthwhile. I learned so much about a new culture, new people and about myself. I learned not to give up on my sustainability driven career goals. I learned the importance of working with others and what can be accomplished with driven people and a common goal. I also learned that Iceland is absolutely,..."

"Had more confidence using the language. Definitely worth my time."

Mark McComb Baylor University
"So worthwhile!!! I could write forever, so here is a brief essay: I always wanted to experience the world on my own, and after years of working towards that goal, I realized my dream. During my junior year, I spent an entire semester living in Madrid, Spain. Through a four-month study abroad program, I attended a local universi..."

"My semester abroad equipped me with experiences where I witnessed the beauty of varying cultures and the ability for humans to connect and communicate despite linguistic, cultural, social, and economic barriers. I met incredible people during my time abroad who stretched my thinking and showed me that when you strip everything e..."

"I learned so much it is hard to put it all in words. My experience was 100% worthwhile and I would do in again and recommend it in a heartbeat. I learned about myself, about other cultures particularly those of the Nordic region, about Computer Science and what aspects interest me and which do not, about cooking, about living on..."

"I learned to see the world through non-American eyes and it was extremely eye opening for me. It was definitely the most worthwhile experience I've ever had. There's nothing about my college career that I loved more than my experience at IAU."
Manar Baylor University
"I learned a lot about myself during the semester. I learned how to really get into another culture and experience living in a completely new environment. I found a new sort of independence and self-confidence to handle most any situation without relying on my parents. I made friends in the oddest places and was extremely blessed..."

"I ultimately learned French, which was the goal. As well, I made a lot of international friends and had a chance to see cultures that weren't mine."
A student Baylor University
"I learned a lot about myself and made some amazing friends. It wasn't as cushy as some study abroad programs (which I observed when visiting friends in Italy and Spain and they complained about their "tough times") but it was definitely enjoyable. I feel more confident and also more comfortable using my arabic. "
Hallie M Baylor University
"I learned that people are people everywhere and there is not right or wrong way to think, live or act. It was definitely worthwhile"

"Aside from enjoying the cultural aspects of being abroad, I found that having to be alone in a new country taught me things about myself that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. We also went on weekend trips to other parts of Ireland which was probably one of my favorites things about studying abroad. It was an opportunity I beli..."

"It was incredible. I learned how to make mistakes, how to travel alone, how to communicate and be ok with taking time to learn. I talked to people from all over the world, and learned so much from everyone I talked to. "
Dayton Y Baylor University
"While abroad, I was exposed to a whole new world that did not resemble my conservative American background. Studying Spain allowed me to experience how people in another country live on a daily basis. Coming from America, I think we assume that our realities are representative of the rest of the world. This is not the case, and ..."

"I improved my Spanish-speaking level and am now able to have educated conversations in Spanish. Also, I learned about the Argentine culture and the differences among different Spanish-speaking countries. Yes "
A student Baylor University
"I learned so much! About the world, about people, about myself- I don't think everything I learned would be able to fit in the expanse of this box. Yes it was worthwhile. Even with the hiccups and the problems, I would do this all over again. If I wasn't graduating in december, I probably would. I am already thinking of ways to ..."
