Regent’s University London: Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
How to fake it till you make it with confidence. Absolutely worth it. I'd do it a hundred times again.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Classes required much less work, which I thought was great. It allowed me more time to travel and explore. The work I did do was real life application as opposed to test after test of theories and ideas. I think I learned better this way and it eliminated so much unneeded stress.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Great location, nice facilities (although a little small).

* Food:

There wasn't much variety in the food served, but it was good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

There weren't many British students at Regent's, but it was mostly international students and primarily American students in the dorms.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I had strep throat around the middle of the semester so I went to a walk-in clinic. Everything went very fast and smooth there, but we are still dealing with insurance and reimbursements about three months later.

* Safety:

Central London is pretty safe, especially because we were in such a nice place and there were always people around.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

London is the most expensive city in the world so everything costs double what it does at home. Public transportation and laundry costs were eating up my money.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Walk rather than taking the tube one or two stops (saves money and you get to see more). Don't eat out very often if possible. Buy tickets ahead of time, online, and with the student discount. There are discounts if you have an EU student ID for nearly everything.
