University Information
Austin College's Center for Global Learning facilitates Semester Abroad Studies and JanTerms. If a student would like to spend a semester abroad with Austin College, the he/she should stop by our office (Wright Campus Center #204) to begin the process. It is extremely important to go through the process in the office, otherwise the College will be unable to send the student's financial aid to the program and the student will need to withdraw from Austin College during their semester or year abroad. The Center's goal is to make each student's experience abroad a meaningful and engaging experience. In order for that to happen, students are required to go through the process in place at the Center.
We look forward to working with you and please read about other student's reviews and experiences at the different programs and locations that can be found at Abroad101.
Important Dates and Deadlines
As of right now, there are no firm deadlines in place for you to complete the Abroad101 Survey. However, before we can post your transcript from your sojourn abroad, you must complete the Abroad101 Survey and interview with the director (Truett Cates).
Thank you very much for your help and cooperation with this. We look forward to hearing about your time and experiences abroad!

Jeni B Austin College
"I am much more self-confident than I was before I went abroad. This program forced me outside of my comfort zone and to take a more active role in my classes. Although I lived on my own before studying abroad, I am now more sure of my ability to provide for myself on a day to day basis and adaptability in new situations. Going ..."

"I don't think that I've changed and those closest to me have noted the same thing. My study abroad experience turned out to be more introspective than anything else for me. The program was tough but that was not the only thing I remember about living in France. One of the things that I'm most proud of is not having lived in Pari..."

"It was definitely worthwhile. If I could, I would do it again, although in another city or country. Study abroad tests your limits while creating opportunities to discover, learn, and understand yourself, others, and the world."

"There were ups and downs during my trip but all-in-all, it was an amazing experience. I would definitly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about the Renaissance since Florence is where it all started. Also, Florence is pretty central so you can get to most places in Italy for a reasonable price, but traveling to other cou..."

"Typical to the stereotype, I learned how to handle my drink. It was a good environment for me, as an international student, but the drinking culture for late teens and young adults is full of peer pressure. Home-grown in Texas, in a land-locked area, it was beautiful to see the sea as often as I did. It was also stunning to se..."

"While being abroad I learned a lot about myself and who I really am. By being able to work in a classroom with students once a week I was able to see what it was like to be a real classroom teacher. I loved getting to compare the educational system set up in Northern Ireland and the one in America. Just from my experiences at th..."

"THe ability to really rely on myself and push myself to my limits. Stepping out of my comfort zone in the Pacific was one of the most beneficial things I could have done for myself. Living with 20 other students forced me to become even more patient and accepting of others who act and think differently than myself. My experience..."

"I learned about a different culture and a different way of living, but I also learned about a lot of things that we had in common too. I explored a brand new country with its own deep history. It was totally worthwhile and I will carry the experience with me for the rest of my life."

"The experiences I had through the IES field trips and my own personal travels in Japan were by far the best thing about my time in Japan. I got to see historical sites and the natural beauty of the country. Kyoto was the best. If you can go to Kyoto, go. Go right now. Also, my language skills at the end of the program were..."

The locals were always fun to be around and being next to the ocean and all the marine wildlife was spectacular! I would do it again in a heartbeat! "
