Past Review Viennese Bliss
I gained more self confidence and bettered my German. It was most definitely worthwhile. I loved the country and I loved the people. At the end of it my Austrian roommate was begging me not to leave. It was a life changing experience. - Austin College View Entire Review

My German skills improved tremendously from living in Vienna. I learned to make a fool of myself, allow my comfort zone to vanish, and explore a new life and culture. - Austin College View Entire Review

Not only did I learn German fluently I met people who are now some of my best friends. The experience has changed my outlook; made me open to living outside the US. And it has given me something that I can share with others; I teach a culture/language class over the lunch hour at my workplace. - Central College View Entire Review
I learned a lot about myself. What I appreciated in life, who was most important to me, and what my priorities were. - Austin College View Entire Review
I learned the language which was the most important, I learned quite a bit about myself, I mean, I had a lot of time alone in a foreign country to reflect, I learned a lot about the culture here and learned the value of this sort of experience. All was worth while. - University of Redlands View Entire Review
I've been gushing on how much confidence in speaking German the experience has given to me ever since I returned. It also gave me experience in a classroom setting through their internship opportunity which most likely helped me get into the Austrian-American Educational Commission (Fulbright) program. Therefore it was definitel... - Hartwick College View Entire Review
I gained so much more than I can explain. I feel as though it has helped me step back and look at things in life at a different angle. Not only did I learn about Austrian cultural, but also many other cultures from people who I met here in Austria. - Austin College View Entire Review

About

Vienna is more than the capital of Austria.  This central European city is the heart of German culture and has claimed the title of “World’s Most Livable City”.  Central’s Vienna program offers students a breadth of academic opportunities in German and English.  Language students are drawn to Central’s program in Vienna for German language immersion, but studying in this multicultural city will engage students both linguistically and culturally.

Before arriving in Vienna, every student has the option to add one or two months at the prestigious Goethe Institute in Schwabisch Hall, Germany, for intensive language preparation.  In Vienna, students choose between a German language immersion curriculum or courses at the University of Vienna, taught in English or German.

For a city founded 2,000 years ago, Vienna has aged well.  Its neo-Baroque style theatres and imperial palaces are brimming with old world charm in a contemporary city.  The Viennese are leaders in urban planning, and the city maintains several natural, green spaces that are perfect study spots.  If you have an interest in politics and international relations, you’ll find prominent international organizations such as OSCE, OPEC and the UN.
