Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"I was forced to open up far more when living somewhere totally on my own. "
Sean H Illinois State University
"I know that it is cliched to say it, but I honestly felt that I gained more confidence by going abroad. I was definitely outside of my comfort zone and grew from it - I ended up traveling to Peru later (and I don't speak any Spanish). Staying in Dublin has definitely made me want to travel more. "
Kara A Ithaca College

"My study abroad experience was totally worthwhile and has changed my plans for after graduation and the future. Before studying abroad, my plans for the future were blurry and undefined, but I now have much more solid plans that were directly influenced by studying abroad. It has certainly given me a much better idea of where I ..."

"My primary goal in traveling to Japan for a semester was to test my own ability to immerse myself in a completely different culture and language. Overall, I succeeded in doing so. I learned a great deal and really, truly enjoyed my five months in Japan. My experiences contributed greatly to my study of Asian History and Politica..."

"Academically, I think I learned a lot because it was so independent and a lot of the readings were everyday-relevant. Many opportunities opened up for me while I studied at LSE that I don't think would have been available had I not studied abroad. Socially, it was a great opportunity to travel to countries like Italy, Switzer..."

Allison B Illinois State University
"I feel that this experience would have been better taken at an earlier year--such as freshmen year. I feel that I've already absorbed so much of the world that I wasn't able to appreciate Ireland as much as my class mates that joined me. I felt more of my interest was in the pagans era of Ireland. I spent most of the trip readin..."

"YES! I learned so much about myself and gained a huge sense of Independence If I can live abroad on my own I think I'll be okay here. I want to see so much more of Europe. Don't be surprised if you get a huge travel bug and don't want to come home... Home won't ever be the same again. "
Tricia B Illinois State University

"Yes, my program was definitely worthwhile. I gained experience in a very different academic milieu, one that I enjoyed greatly. Discussions were, in my opinion, of more value because..."
