Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Independence and freedom "
A student Fairfield University
"The best parts of my experience had nothing to do with the program in which I was enrolled. It was the traveling around Europe and exploring London that made my experience worthwhile. I have learned that a lot of things do not go according to the original plan, but you need to take a step back and decide how you are going to f..."

"This was definitely a worthwhile experience! You will learn a lot about yourself, but also a lot about how to deal with different education systems and cultures. Griffith is a very diverse school so if you interact with other exchange or study abroad students, then you will know someone from every corner of the world before you ..."
Jennifer M George Mason University
"I learned a lot about another culture and saw the world through a different lens. I had a great time, and going to İstanbul is certainly worthwhile. Turkey is overwhelmingly Muslim, which stands in stark contrast to any place I had ever been to before. It was nice being immersed in another culture where most people didn't speak ..."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained a lot of independence. I gained confidence in myself. I gained some new friends I will have for life. I learned how to handle myself in new and slightly scary situations. I learned how to overcome cultural barriers. "
Kali S University of Northern Iowa
"I learned a lot about myself as an individual. I consider myself to be very involved at my home university - music ensembles, soccer team, student organizations, etc. But while you are studying abroad you don't have all of that to fall back on and you are forced to make friends based on other and more real commonalities. I learn..."
A student University of Northern Iowa
"Other than academics, you learn a lot about different cultures and the contrast of new experiences and your home country. Well worth it!"
Jordan P University of Northern Iowa
"It was definitely worthwhile. I was able to take business classes with an international view which was cool. I met so many new people and made so many friends that I will keep in touch with. I also was able to travel to 8 countries and 14 cities, experiences and memories I will always remember. "
A student Drexel University
"I gained so many lifelong friends and memories that I will cherish for a lifetime. I learned about another culture and got to explore one of the greatest cities in the world. I learned about being independent, problem solving, and believing in myself. "
Michaela C University of Wisconsin - Madison
"I learned the importance of going out of my comfort zone to grow. My semester abroad gave me perspective and gave me the room to refocus my priorities and focus on my goals for the future. "
Aidan C Duke University
"I learned a lot about making new friends, being independent, how to explore, how to take risks that stretch your comfort zone, budgeting money in the real world, Turkish, Turkish history, and current affairs."
Grant K Duke University
"Studying abroad in Dunedin was definitely worthwhile! I was given the opportunity to explore and have fun without the typical stress of a college student schedule. On several occasions I was given the opportunity to put school aside and play for a week at a time. I grew in ways and learned new things that I typically wouldn't be..."

"Along with the general abroad learning experiences of gaining independence and new sense of flexibility, I learned an incredible amount about this area of the world. Being at the crossroads between Asia and Europe is an extremely interesting area to be in, and Istanbul proved that. I also learned that it is impossible to imagine..."

"Along the way we made a few mistakes while traveling, so we were able to adjust for our other trips and learned from them. We planned every trip on our own without any group guidance, and that alone was a huge learning experience, which I will forever remember because we became that much for independent and resourceful. "
A student Fairfield University
"I definitely improved my spanish speaking and listening abilities, but I could have accomplished that in any spanish speaking country. The people here are very concerned with outward appearances and money, but not the students."

"I learned that the world is bigger than my home culture. I learned that there are many things that each culture could learn from other culture and a lot of growth could happen if we just step out of our comfort zone. It was absoultely worthwhile! I would suggest it to anyone who is willing to open their mind to new and wonderful..."
