As cliche as it sounds, you learn so much about yourself. I didn't have some life-changing epiphany but I understand that I can survive by myself a long way from home. I learned about the perception others have about Americans. I also learned that people are really the same from all over the world. It was absolutely worthwhi... - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review

I consider myself to be very involved at my home university - music ensembles, soccer team, student organizations, etc. But while you are studying abroad you don't have all of that to fall back on and you are forced to make friends based on other and more real commonalities. I learn... - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review

I gained knowledge of a new culture, how to travel cheaper and have more fun (ie hostels, using buslines, pro poor tourism), Gaining appreciation for my home University, I loved being around other international students... Yes it was worthwhile, despite the class schedules, confusion... I'd do it all the same way. - St. Cloud State University View Entire Review

By working at the homework club I got to talk to the children and some of them spoke of a death of a family member or a community member. It also opened my eyes to some of the racial issues South Africa still deals with today... - St. Cloud State University View Entire Review
