Overall Experience
This program really provided us with the opportunity to not only learn about but experience all of Ireland. I was able to learn about the culture and history in class and then go out and participate in that culture. On top of being educational, the program was also incredibly fun and adventurous. It really fostered a sense of co... - New York University View Entire Review
August 04, 2017 An Amazing Experience!
I learned a lot about the immediate, real-life effects that the tumultuous and rich history of Ireland has had on it's people. I also learned so much about the day-to-day life and culture of Ireland by just being there, which are not necessarily things that you can understand as deeply in a classroom. - New York University View Entire Review
Drop everything and go to Trinity College with NYU. It is the most worthwhile experience you could ever have. - Emerson College View Entire Review
October 14, 2015 Best Summer Of My Life!
It was incredibly worthwhile. I didn't have time to spend an entire semester abroad, but the opportunity to spend six weeks in Dublin more than made up for that. I gained a better understanding of Irish Culture, Politics and Sociology, and I had the opportunity to meet and talk to a number of local citizens about what I had been... - New York University View Entire Review

My summer in Dublin was my first experience in Europe and I loved every single second of it. I was exposed to a different city and a different way of life but still felt at home, safe, and supported through the NYU program. - New York University View Entire Review
I gained a deeper appreciation for Ireland and its culture and this experience inspired me to gain my Master's Degree in Irish Studies. I also met the most amazing people who continue to be my closest friends today. - New York University View Entire Review
I learned a lot about Ireland's colonial and post-colonial struggles, and gained a deeper understanding of how colonialism affects the consciousness of a society and shapes its culture. As someone who studies sociology, this insight is extremely useful for a potential thesis. - CUNY - John Jay College of Criminal Justice View Entire Review

I learned so much about myself as a student and traveler throughout the six weeks. It was worthwhile in a way I could've hardly anticipated going into it, considering the fact that I came away from the program with a comprehensive knowledge about a culture and history I had previously known very little about. I also came away wi... - New York University View Entire Review

After participating in several study abroad programs in both high school and college, I can confidently say that NYU's Summer in Dublin was the best study abroad experience I've ever had. September 02, 2015 Couldn't Be Happier
My experience was a bit different from most of the students, as I went to Dublin as an assistant director of the program. It was my first time in Ireland, and I worked on my Masters thesis while the students took classes. However, I did all the same cultural outings and weekend trips as all the students. The trip was 100% wort... - New York University View Entire Review

About

Dublin is one of the world’s friendliest, most beautiful and most welcoming cities. Small enough for students to get to know well in six weeks, but large enough to provide an authentic, vibrant, big city experience, Dublin is an ideal place to study abroad. The city’s combination of intimacy and cosmopolitanism is reflected in the ethos of our program, which fosters a friendly and close-knit atmosphere, but also looks beyond the boundaries of the city to give students a taste of everything that Ireland has to offer–from traditional music festivals to the stunning islands of Ireland’s west coast.

Our home base is Trinity College, Ireland’s most prestigious university, located right in the heart of Dublin. Trinity’s famous front gate and stone walls enclose a beautiful, safe, ivy-covered campus, where our students live in individual rooms in dormitory accommodations, which one former student described as “absolutely amazing.”

The immersive experience that the program provides is a key part of NYU in Dublin: rather than experiencing the city as tourists, our students live in the heart of Dublin, getting to know the city and its people as locals. As one of our students put it, “Dublin became a second home to me.” The program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students from NYU or from other universities. Program participants pursue an intensive study of Irish society and culture through courses in sociology, history, literature, Irish language and culture, and creative writing.
