New York University: Dublin - NYU Summer in Dublin

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot about Ireland's history and how integrated the culture is with the history. I got to interact with locals and see their culture, as well as gain an understanding to the colored past of Ireland

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The classes were in no way meant to trip you up or be too challenging. Instead, they were there as an outlet to combine what you were learning outside the classroom and within. The professors were very engaging and laid back, but facilitated learning in a very kind way.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The accomodations at Trinity College were fantastic. The dorms were centrally located in Dublin- anything you could need was within a 15 minute walk. The housekeeping staff was very kind, and the facilities were amazing.

* Food:

There was a kitchen in every unit which was convenient because you could eat whenever you wanted.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Dublin is quite safe

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

The program was very fun and exciting. It was unlike most other study abroad programs I have heard of and really immersed you in Ireland. Overall, I feel like I left having a broad understanding of Ireland's history and its future progress.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Make use of the kitchen in the dorms and stay away from surge pricing in the Temple Bar area.
