About
AIFS in Hyderabad offers both a Traditional Academic Program and a Community Engagement Program (CEP) for the fall semester. The traditional program offers a myriad of courses as well as the option for an Independent Study. The CEP is a service learning program which develops understanding of current issues impacting community life in India and places students with an NGO to experience development initiatives firsthand. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
Live in an international student residence hall, a comfortable student residence on campus designed specifically for study abroad students. Students share double rooms (single rooms may be available for an additional fee) and bathroom, and have access to a shared dining room, living room and laundry facilities. Housing includes internet access and three meals a day in the residence cafeteria.
You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities such as guided walking tours, visits to important cultural and historic sites, Indian cooking classes and traditional Indian dance lessons. Semester and January term programs begin with a 5 or 6-day Golden Triangle Tour, with visits to India’s most famous cities: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. Optional semester excursions include a 4-day trip to Ajanta and Ellora, and a 4-day visit to Kerala.
Hyderabad is known as the City of Pearls, a legacy of its history as a pearl and diamond trading center. As the joint capital of the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad embodies a confluence of Hindu and Muslim culture, offering a rare opportunity to experience the cultural traditions of both these faiths. A modern and cosmopolitan city, Hyderabad is located in the central part of India making it the perfect place from which to experience both Northern and Southern Indian traditions.
