Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My Hindi teacher was very nice but I felt we often did not have as many opportunities to speak as was necessary to gain a solid foundation of the language. My history professors were very kind and accommodating to American students but we were often not given amble time to complete assignments ie we will have the test iun three days, or maybe five...ok let's do three.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Sumana was excellent. She was always available, flexible, and very accommodating to our various, diverse needs.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Although Tagore was great (i love hot water and air conditioning), i would have preferred to live with an Indian family with a few Americans.

* Food:

Although the food was ok, I wish we would have had at least one consistent American meal option such as bread and peanut butter for those days when we felt ill and not up to eating indian food

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I loved my AIFS group. We really bonded and were all pretty good at traveling together

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I felt as safe I could in India. I think we all learned pretty quickly what were good ideas and bad ideas--Sumana was great in chiming in here too.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Carry more money than you think you need when traveling. You never know when you'll get hungry, thirsty, or see something you really like that's a one-of-a-kind

Language

How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
Language acquisition improvement?

My tutor was very very helpful and essential to my success in learning Hindi
