Haiti is a Caribbean country that occupies the western and smaller portion of the island of Hispaniola, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. It is the most mountainous nation in the Caribbean and Haiti is the third largest Caribbean nation in size and the second most populous Caribbean nation, with 11 million people, just under a million of whom live in the capital city, Port-au-Prince.
