Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Going abroad had made me grow as a person and become more independent. Traveling to a different country without knowing anybody was extremely intimidating. I never thought I could go somewhere for a month by myself to an international university, and now I am going away to Japan in May for another amazing experience!"
Samantha F Rutgers University - New Brunswick/Piscataway

"I have learned to respect and appreciate other cultures. I will never forget the experiences and memory I had at my study abroad. Some of the people I met in Taiwan has become some of my best friends I have ever made. After my study abroad experience, my language proficiency has increased. "
Lily L Mississippi State University
"I learned to take things slowly, appreciate the things I have even more. The people of New Zealand are simple; they don't need a lot to keep them happy. Being able to spend time with their friends and family over a good meal is enough for them. Being from Hawai'i has exposed me to many different cultures, but the Maori culture i..."

"OH MY GOODNESS YES!! The friends, memories, experiences, and so much more made me the person I am today."
Marissa D Tiffin University
"This being my first time abroad, helped me realize how much stereotype is out there in the world. Being a Hmong Asian American while living in New Zealand was hard to teach and explain to everyone about my culture. Being from an ethnicity that doesn't have a home country is hard to explain. Growing up and living in the States, i..."
Nalee V University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
"I learned that the rest of the world is very similar to the United States. People are people no matter where you go. I plan on living abroad after I graduate from college. This experience has given me the knowledge that I will be alright on my own and more than capable of making a life for myself no matter where I end up."
Jamie R Illinois State University
"I really learned a lot about myself. cliche, i know. but while i was there i never felt like i had to prove anything and i was so easily accepted i was just allowed to be me. At home I am always brought down with pressure of grades and classes I never got to really try new things or meet new people. studying abroad helped me rea..."
Andrea F Colorado State University
"Everyday in class was "how can I use this thinking towards my own culture and learning" It really was an eye opener and inspiring. My future plans are still "in the works" but that thirst for traveling & being introduced to new cultures has only grown."
Rebekah L University of Hawaii - Manoa
"I have a better appreciation of valuing family, friends and health more than Americans seem to on a daily basis due to work constraints and stress. I really want to consider TCD as a grad school option, the cultural differences in Dublin in terms of life attitude make it a difficult option to ignore. "

"Yes it was so worthwhile! I have such a better understanding of working in Government. Because the Scottish Parliament is so new you do get to do much more than you might in an American internship. I had spent time in Scotland before so I don't think my perspective was greatly changed but you can't place a value on living in a f..."

"Despite the administrative issues that were encountered during my stay, I was able to understand the Chinese education system by being part of it. This allowed me to better understand what it's like to be a student in China which is quite different than being a student at an International school. I also got to spend time getting..."

"I loved being in a new environment and felt that even though I had problems with the classroom environment at Tsinghua and with the sense of isolation I felt at times from locals because of the living arrangements, I still got to know a lot of locals and got to explore the university and Beijing. I got to see how the Chinese uni..."
