Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
" Yes certainly. It was the first time I ever lived abroad. Going to a European university also forces you to be a lot more independent than an American university, where you are kind of babied, so that's a good learning experience."
Gabriel S Illinois State University
"I really enjoyed my study abroad experience. I improved my French tremendously, but I was very disappointed with the school itself. "
Nicole L New Mexico State University
"I loved being able to travel everywhere and see important places and monuments. I liked the program I was in, but if I was to do it again I would want to experience another place, another culture."
Katherine S Illinois State University
"It helped me realise that there's more to England than London and London really is as overrated as I thought."

"Studying abroad for me really helped me find myself. I was in situations that i felt were really character building. You learn that you either run or get ran over. I think it's a life changing experience that teaches you valuable lessons about who you are and makes you a more well-rounded individual."

"Overall, this was an excellent experience for me. I gained quite a few friends from places all over the world, and made some great memories. I learned so many small details about other cultures that you can't gain from reading textbooks. The exchange also allowed me to travel around Europe and experience several different cou..."

"The study abroad experience has changed my life so profoundly. I gained a confidence I didn't have before that comes only from knowing that you can go out into the world and not only survive it, but have an amazing time in it! It made me more confident to meet people, and more confident that I could make things happen for myself..."
Ariana C University of the Pacific
"I learned to be more independent. It was a unique experience that I will always have the memory and lessons I learned from it. It helped me become more aware of different cultures and how people in different countries live so differently from the USA. It helped my love of Hispanic culture grow and lead me to be able to teach ..."

"I gained the confidence to use my Japanese speaking skills, as well as improve upon them greatly."
Anna S Austin College
"I have greatly improved my language skills. Also, I have gained knowledge about foreign countries' customs, not just Japan either, but through the other international students I have learned about their countries, and how America is viewed. This experience has reinforced my wish to learn more languages and travel or work abroad."
Emmaline C Hollins University
"I gained the knowledge that I can go to a foreign place, with a completely different language, and adapt. Because the program was so small and the town so tiny, all of us got to know each other, people from Germany, Mexico, France, Chili. Academically it was not challenging, so don't go for what you will learn in class. "
Cassandra T Western Washington University
"Cant be explained"
Josh S Western Washington University
"Yes, but a different program would have been more beneficial."
Arielle Y Western Washington University
"My study abroad trip was very worthwhile. The experiences I gained, not to mention the fluency I won, changed my career options. I want to be a translator, and I could never have gotten the fluency or the cultural insight to do it without my study abroad."
Elani K Western Washington University
"I now have been somewhere with people that are much different than the people I'm around back home. I see things from an Irish perspective as well as from other perspectives. I have learned so much the friends I've made from the USA because they are from such different places. I will definitely make time for a lot of traveling i..."
