Living with people with a different mindset. Life is much slower, people don't really think of themselves as special. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
My study abroad experience made me even more independent than the two years I've already spent at college. I also got much better at solving problems. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
While it may sound cliche, I did learn a lot about myself while abroad. From what is the most conducive learning environment for me to what my political views on certain issues really are, its hard to list out just how much I learned while abroad. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I learned about myself. I learned to accept myself and feel comfortable being who I am. Meeting new people and sharing life experiences has shaped the way I feel and think about everything. I have become more understanding of people from all walks of life. There is nothing better than to meet a new friend over a nice fika. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
A student studying abroad with Direct Enrollment: Uppsala - Uppsala University
My time in Uppsala was most definitely one of the most formative experiences of my entire life. I met friends from all over the world who, a year later, I am still in touch with. I had the chance to travel, but for the most part I enjoyed staying in Uppsala because there were always things to do. One really cool unique trip we d... - University of Connecticut View Entire Review
I met so many incredible people and had so much fun. I would do it again in a heartbeat. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
A student studying abroad with Direct Enrollment: Uppsala - Uppsala University
Learned a lot obviously (impossible to list it here) especially about cultures (e.g. Swedes don't look nice, but they are very nice), weather, transportation, and food (Swedes coffee/tea drinking habits "fika" is awesome, it's a great habit), I think. Something worth saying: befriend locals. It's very tempting to spend all your ... - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Past Review Swedish Semester
I learned to try everything at least once, be open to other's 'usual', understand how internationals speak english, and how to not only get by, but really live in a foreign place. It was worthwhile. - Illinois State University View Entire Review
I learned about and became fascinated with Swedish History, and was able to research aspects of Swedish history that contributed to my own research at home. Everything I learned about Swedish culture was worthwhile. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
How to be in charge and completely on my own and how easy it is to just travel. It was totally worth it and I can't wait to do it again. - San Jose State University View Entire Review
Definitely! It was so exciting to learn about the world and go new places and meet new people. I learned a lot about myself and about the world and the only way to do that was to study abroad, an irreplaceable experience that ill never forget! :) - Illinois State University View Entire Review
I am still undecided. Traveling to London and Paris was the coolest thing I have ever done, but I didn't like Sweden. - Illinois State University View Entire Review
Absolutely. I've met so many amazing people from all over the world and gained a respect for a country that I admittedly knew very little about before my study abroad. I got to see a little bit more of the world, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Past Review Fika Is Sacred
I learned a lot about taking responsibility for your work and Swedish culture. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Absolutely worthwhile. Now have the courage to move to a new place alone and know I can make it. Learned to love learning languages. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Past Review Exciting
I learned that despite coming from different parts of the worlds, you can still have a lot in common with others culturally. It was also great because the city is so safe and it was comforting. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Travelling and meeting new people from around the world was the best thing about this trip. You meet people that force you be the best you can be, and who are okay with you and love you when can't be. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I learned a lot about being on my own and independent, a lot about other cultures and customs, and a lot about myself. Clearly, it was worthwhile. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I learned how rewarding it is to take chances and how independent I can really be. I also learned a ton about people my age from all over the world. Definitely a worthwhile experience. - Illinois State University View Entire Review
I gained friends from all around the world, and multiple cultures. I gained a love for other viewpoints and an open mine. I have a yearning to travel and experience other cultures. I gained some of my best friends who I still talk to everyday. I learned more about myself and they type of person I am and want to be. - Illinois State University View Entire Review
Past Review Amazing Trip!
How different cultures are and the amazing friendships and connections you can make in a different country - Illinois State University View Entire Review
Definitely worthwhile. I no longer "bike like an American" which I was told in the beginning. Note: if you go to Uppsala the first thing you should do is buy a bike! I made some good friends, got a lot of insight into Swedish culture and improved my Swedish, and became addicted to coffee after a dark winter and many "fika" brea... - Tufts University View Entire Review
Met some amazing people I'll never forget and who i'll definitely see again. Learnt a lot about Sweden and other cultures. The massive party culture was amazing. It was worthwhile, without a doubt. The best 6 months of my life. - Deakin University - Burwood View Entire Review
I learned that I love home yet I love traveling and experiencing other cultures and it was a great experience. Definitely worth the home sickness I felt. - Illinois State University View Entire Review
I strongly recommend study abroad! I was worried I would be homesick (I get homesick VERY easily) but I experienced a lot less homesickness than I anticipated. Don't be scared to study abroad. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review

About

Uppsala is the pre-eminent university town. Uppsala students live in a cultural setting with roots harking back several centuries and can experience student activities far beyond the ordinary. They live the traditional life of a student, both every day and on festive occasions–in student housing corridors and at student social clubs, called nations. Ball gowns and tie-and-tails elegance jostles with discos and pubs, and theater groups are just as self-evident as floor ball teams.
