Overall Experience
I experienced a educational experience that will be difficult to match (even when I study for my Phd) and a vast array of incredible memories with local and visiting students. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile. I got exposure to a different style of education, had the opportunity to learn at one of the world's most prestigious universities, and took classes I enjoyed and found interesting. I also was able to travel a good deal, since Oxford learning is so self-directed. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
It was fully worthwhile, I appreciated the focus on my course and the social atmosphere. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Going to Oxford was incredibly worthwhile. I would even go so far as to say it was the best five months of my life. The tutorials were rigorous and engaging, and the one-on-one teaching/learning style was exactly what I craved. The social aspects were far from lacking; I became friends with many local students and American study... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I gained a faith in myself and a newfound passion for my subject. I liked having more time to myself to work on my subject, as well as more time to spend with friends. This was completely worthwhile! - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I really enjoyed the academic program--I learned a lot and became more independent - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review I Like Oxford
Different culture experiences. Definitely worth it. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Oxford has the very unique tutorial system. This I thought was a fantastic way of learning, as not only did it teach me an immense amount about the subject, but it also taught me a lot about myself and how I learn. This is something that I will certainly take with me into my senior year, and I think will be immensely important a... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Great Adventure
Have to take the initiative to interact with the local students in order to get fully integrated into the culture community and it is very worthwhile - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I experienced a very different learning style, where students are expected to be independent learners. I was challenged by it, but it also helped me hone my essay-writing skills. I think my semester was definitely worthwhile. - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Oxford is a great place to go for biochemistry. You get much more depth in each subject than you generally get from Wellesley - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I can write essays more efficiently and am better at organising my own work time. I know more about the ways I learn best, and how far I can (and can't push myself). It was a difficult year in many ways, but ultimately a very rewarding one. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Amazing
Learned an immense amount about English literature and gained a deep appreciation for scholarly researach. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
The education system taught me self motivation in a way that only Oxford could. It's almost the complete opposite of American uni's and definitely something worth trying. You learn alot about yourself as you go through the program - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Academic Heaven
Was pushed intellectually in one-to-one tutoring sessions. Was able to travel cheaply through Europe during breaks. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I think that I benefited tremendously from the social atmosphere of my college and Oxford in general. It was great to just strike up conversation with other students about whatever. Also the academics were very challenging, and that definitely made me a strong student. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Past Review It Was Great!
I became a much better student and writer, much more confident and better at talking to strangers and making friends. - Middlebury College View Entire Review
Past Review Good
Yes. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned how to interact with international students and more about the British culture. I loved my experience there and I feel like that I was able to get a lot out of my experience there. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Rigorous coursework, great people, good food. It was enjoyable and a semester was a good amount of time for me. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Oxford had a very different environment compared to Wellesley, which made me thought that I've changed completely as a person. I use to not enjoy reading that much, but that completely changed while I was at oxford because of the learning environment. It was also my first time in Europe and I tried to travel to other cities and ... - Wellesley College View Entire Review
How to be academically independent- a skill I'll use my senior year and in future studies Exploring Europe was also a valuable experience. I enjoyed meeting people from all over the world and sharing our stories, and learning to just live for a little bit. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Challenging
Loved the academic intensity. Didn't always feel really integrated - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Past Review Exciting
I learned to be adventurous and approach new situations with confidence. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I pushed myself academically, harder than Wellesley ever could have done. Socially I didn't have to do much, because work took up all my time. I was quite lonely for a while, but once I found my people I had a couple of wonderful months. It would not have been worth it to me to go for less than the whole year, and I advise al... - Wellesley College View Entire Review

About

If you are a student from overseas (in most cases countries outside the EU) and wish to spend up to one year in Oxford on a course related to a degree in your own country, you can apply to a college for a place as a Visiting Student. As a Visiting Student you become a member of an Oxford college, and it is the college that will arrange for your tuition. Oxford does not award a degree or any other qualification for one year of study as a Visiting Student, but colleges are willing to provide a record of achievement, for example for credit purposes.
