University of Oxford - Visiting Students

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I think it was worth while. I became more independent about my own learning and exploring.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 6 months+

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I enjoyed the tutorial style of learning and got a lot out of one on ones with my professors

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Every question I had was answered promptly

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in a dorm floor and shared with 10 other students half of which were other visiting students, and the other half were 1st years. This is not the normal though due to the pandemic.

* Food:

I made myself breakfast and had to cook for myself over the long vaccation. Lunch was not provided so if I ate lunch, I also made that myself. I am not sure how much of that is because of the pandemic or if that is what it was originally

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I lived with full time students and housed on campus

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

There were student welfare events and the nurse sent monthly emails. I did not need any healthcare assistance.

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

I got a lot out of it academically, but unfortunately during a pandemic, I didn't really get to integrate into the more social aspects. Living with full-time students helped though!

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 30/week

Reasons For Studying Abroad

To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you.
The Academic or Linguist
You went abroad with specific academic goals in mind; the program credentials and rigor of your coursework abroad were very important to you. You had a great time abroad, but never lost sight of your studies and (if applicable) were diligent with your foreign language study. Good for you!
