What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so much about life in England and the differences between our educational system. I absolutely loved my time at Mansfield College. Loved how I was able to grow with my friends there.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

As a visiting student, you get to experience Oxford University's tutorial system, which is a unique way of learning where tutors meet with 1-3 students each week to go over weekly essays/problem sets. Through my tutorials, I was able to gain a better grasp of the material at hand as well as explore related topics with my tutor to a greater extent than many US lecture-style courses.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I think Mansfield College can improve their communication with visiting students on what is going on within the college, and perhaps design specific activities that can help visiting students integrate with their non-visiting peers.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Visiting students live off-campus in two off-campus sites. Both are within biking distance of the college although one site, Cowley Road, requires a 30-minute walk. I appreciated being housed with non-visiting students as it helped me integrate with the Oxford community to a greater extent than living with only visiting students would.

* Food:

Mansfield College is recognized for its excellent vegetarian food. The prices are also very affordable.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I felt very integrated with my community! This was mainly through joining various clubs and attending events - there are so many to chose from at Oxford!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? ~£150
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Eating out can be expensive, so consider cooking for yourself or with friends whenever possible.
