I learned a lot about the history of Australia and I got to explore places that I probably never would have got the chance to see if I didn't study abroad. It was totally worthwhile in my opinion because I made new friends and got to check a few things off of my bucket list. Clare Sullivan - University of Massachusetts Amherst / UMass View Entire Review
I learned so much during my time abroad. I gained so much personally and culturally. This was my first time leaving the country alone and for so long a time. I learned a lot about myself, responsibility, and maturity. Coming back I felt like a whole new person. Before going to Australia, I was so excited to immerse myself into a... It was absolutely worthwhile. I don't think I can put in words all of the things I've gained and learned from this experience so I'll sum up a couple of them. I feel like I could be a world traveler now, I am very comfortable with all types of public transportation now and definitely caught the travel-bug (yes it's really a thin... It was absolutely worthwhile. I was able to learn a lot and be more comfortable on my own traveling and I learned another perspective on real word issues that was different than the United States. One of my favorite things about my time abroad though was that I did a volunteer project for a company that is working to bring nucle... Matthew M - University of Maine - Orono View Entire Review

I gained a lot of confidence being abroad. I was surrounded by completely new people that it felt as if I were starting a new life, it was very refreshing. Because of this there were also some challenges by being exposed to different kinds of people. This did not hinder me, rather opened my eyes to different perspectives. Nadia N - California Baptist University View Entire Review
I learned to keep my mind open. When you look at the world around you with judgement and hesitation, you miss a lot of incredible people and experiences. I see the world around me in a new and curious light. Kenzie W - Concordia University Nebraska View Entire Review

I would go again and recommend this program to anyone. My biggest issue was I was sick while I was there and getting health care was not the easiest. I think if I was to do this again I would check a little more into the health care - I did check and was told there was a doctor on site but wasn't told that he/she was hardly eve... My study abroad experience was well worth it and if I had the opportunity to do it all over again I would. I learned so much and gained many valuable skills. CISabroad / Center for International Studies Scholarships
This award is intended for students within the LGBTQIA+ community, as part of CIS Abroad’s commitment to Generation Study Abroad. Studying abroad as an LGBTQIA+ or gender nonconforming student brings an additional set of challenges and options to consider. There are some questions you may want to ask yourself, and research to be done, before choosing a study abroad program – but our LGBTQIA+ students have amazing experiences abroad and often find local LGBTQIA+ communities to be a part of. Recipients will select from a variety of mediums to share their story while abroad, in addition to submitting a photo testimonial.
Up to $500
This award is intended for students in a Greek Life organization who need help covering the cost of membership dues while abroad. In keeping with the philanthropic values of Greek Life organizations, recipients should plan to participate in at least one self-directed volunteer opportunity while abroad and produce content (ex. a blog post or video) related to that experience, in addition to other selections.
Up to $500
We understand first-generation students face additional barriers to studying and interning abroad. In fact, many staff members at CIS Abroad are also first-generation college students. This scholarship is intended to help fund the visa process, flights, and international housing for students who are among the first from their family to go to college. Recipients will share their story of learning and exploration while abroad with a photo gallery and their choice of travel vlog, blogging, or an Instagram takeover.
Up to $500
This award is intended for students who demonstrate excellence in their academic major. While abroad, recipients will use a variety of channels (video, blogging, photos) to share how studying/interning abroad is enriching their academic or professional career, in addition to submitting a photo testimonial.
$250
This award is intended to benefit students of color, who are traditionally underrepresented within education abroad. We aim to widen the diversity of our community of interns and students abroad and foster equity in access to these experiences. If you identify as biracial, multiracial, Black, African & African American, Caribbean American, Latinx / Chican@ / Hispanic, Asian & Asian American, Native, Pacific Islander, or another minoritized racial/ethnic identity not listed, we invite you to apply. In your application essay, tell us about how your identity will impact your experience abroad. Recipients will select from a variety of mediums to share their story while abroad, in addition to submitting a photo testimonial.
