My experience abroad was the best decision I made while in college. I gained so much from my 4 months abroad that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. Living in Florence and traveling throughout Europe opened my eyes to what else is out there in the world. I was able to not only explore the world, but also explore myself... - University of Rhode Island View Entire Review
My experience abroad was the first time in my life where I learned more outside of the classroom than in it. Studying abroad is a valuable experience that every student should have. Experiencing life outside of one's "bubble" and into a new culture with new people is a difficult experience, however in the end, will become one of... - University of Alabama - Tuscaloosa View Entire Review
I believe that studying abroad should be a requirement for all American students. I think this would show Americans to be more open-minded and give them a more global perspective, as opposed to the typical narrow-minded bubble that most Americans live in. Studying abroad is a time for a lot of self-growth to occur. - St. Mary's College of Maryland View Entire Review
As a Spring 2014 Florence alum, I have no doubt that AIFS was the best program I could’ve chosen for myself to help fulfill my nearly lifelong dream of studying abroad. And even now—half a year removed from my experience—there’s quite literally not a day that goes by that I don’t think back to my time in Florence and the (what s... - College of Charleston View Entire Review

I was able to complete an amazing internship at Museo Bellini and would do anything to do it again. I had a single project while I was abroad and I "graduated" from Bellini University and the collection will now carry my name. - Western Washington University View Entire Review

Past Review Bella Italia!
I learned I am perfectly happy with who I am. I thought I was going to go on this adventure and be "changed" completely. In some ways, yes I grew as a person...but I did not have a personality overhaul. I was comfortable enough with who I was at the start, that I did not have to change completely, but instead, just grow in under... - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Independence. Yes. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
A cool opportunity I got to partake in thanks to AIFS was working as a tour guide at the Church of Santa Croce, this church was across the street from my apartment and is where Michelangelo is buried! All students at AIFS are offered the opportunity to partake in volunteer work, a friend of mine got to help teach children at a l... - Southern Illinois University - Carbondale View Entire Review
I was able to experience a different culture and actually be part of it. Getting to see other people's point of view has helped me be intercultural. - Sacramento City College View Entire Review
I gained confidence in myself. I learned to be my own person (I'm a twin and this was our first time apart) and I discovered a new passion of mine, traveling. It was definitely worthwhile and I will definitely be going back to Florence to visit in the next year. - Ohio University View Entire Review
I learned how to be fully independent, how to think critically, and stay calm in stressful situations. I gained cultural competency and learned about a new culture. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
There are many things I gained from being abroad. I experienced a different culture and learned to appreciate international visitors in the United States more than I had before. I became more aware and empathetic because I knew what it felt like to be treated with patience and kindness but also shortness and rudeness. I also lea... - University of Michigan - Ann Arbor View Entire Review
I learned countless items from my experience including more personal independence. It was one hundred percent worthwhile. - University of Maryland - University College View Entire Review
I learned how to travel alone with confidence, work with people who are different than I am, and experience different cultures. All the hassle of paperwork and financial stress that comes with a study abroad trip was completely worth it. - Texas A&M University - College Station View Entire Review
Past Review Unbelievable
I feel like I grew as an individual from living abroad. I gained friends that I am still close with, and I got to experience another culture other than my own. Studying abroad was worthwhile to me, and is still one of my best decisions to this day. - West Chester University of Pennsylvania View Entire Review
I learned more about my self independence. I learned how big and small the world is at the same time. I learned about traveling and languages. Also that the US is not the biggest, best nation in the world. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Absolutely worthwhile. I learned to live outside my comfort zone and explore my independence. I cherish that I learned how to live in the moment. - None View Entire Review
Travel experience, patience, understanding of different cultures. Yes. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
There is a sense of maturity that falls upon someone who studies abroad on their own. Based on where I came from I always believed I could adapt to any culture, and after this experience I was proven to be right. I was on my own, and don't get me wrong, I would have loved to go with friends, but in all honestly I think someone i... - University of Hartford View Entire Review
