"Not only did my French vastly improve in terms of comprehension and fluency, but I also gained a greater understanding of French, and also European, culture and mindsets. As a studio art major, I was able to see in person many great works of art that I have studied in previous years. Every studio art or art history major should ..."

"I gained definitly a different perspective after living in a country that wasn't predominantly Christian, where I was the minority. I felt that cultural experience was worthwhile, but I wished I was able to use my Arabic more often."
Kaitlyn S Wellesley College
"Completely worthwhile! I gained a sense of confidence in my own ability to be independent and organize my own travel and trips and budget my own finances like I never have before. "
Rachel S Wellesley College
"My experience abroad was incredibly worthwhile, and has inspired me to want to live abroad in the coming years. I learned so much just from being on my own in a foreign city. I gained a lot of insight from being in the middle of the city and getting to experience all of the culture. "
Leigh N Wellesley College
"I gained a sense of self worth and independence. I was abroad for the first time without a 'program' or even friends and I thrived. I gained a new global perspective and went native. Overall, I'm glad that I didn't do the traditional study abroad experience. I got to truly know the place I was staying and I was able to fully..."

"I gained a sense of the size of the world. I gained perspective on the US and myself. "

"My Spanish did improve, which was the only goal I had for going abroad. Therefore, I would say that it was worthwhile"

"Improved my Arabic, made many friends--American and local, learned how to survive in a foreign country by myself, "

"It was definitely a worthwhile experience. It was challenging to enter an entirely new environment, but I really enjoyed meeting new people, learning to cook for myself, surviving on a budget, and taking classes taught by world-renowned professors. "

"It was worthwhile. I learned how to play golf at St. Andrews, which was the highlight of my experience. I also always feel it is a good idea to expose yourself to different cultures."

"Over the course of the trip I learned what I can handle and what I can't handle. I was able to clearly establish my comfort zone and stay within it with no guilt whatsoever. I only did what I was comfortable doing and I always moved at my own pace. I learned that it's ok to establish my own boundaries and stand by them. I also l..."

"I learned that I should have gone with at least one friend that I was familiar and comfortable with. Since I was the only non-Middlebury student in the program, it was very difficult for me to make friends. This was the only negative part of my experience, and I just had so much fun and learned all my Spanish back. I tasted food..."

"I learned that I can go into a city where I knew no one, find my way around, and learn to love a city I knew nothing about. I found groups of friends and was willing to take advantage of opportunities. I learned to take risks and be vulnerable. "

"I had a wonderful experience in Ireland-- it had more to do with travel and experiences than it did with actual courses of study, but I'm okay with that. "

"This experience was special for me because I already had friends and family in the Atlanta area. While Spelman offers a lot of Black American history and culture courses that I can't find at my home institution, those classes almost weren't worth the other troubles I went through acclimating to the Southern Culture shock. Howeve..."

"I enjoyed being in an entirely new academic and social environment, and I think it was this novelty that challenged me more than anything else about my time at St Andrews. "
A student Wellesley College
"This was absolutely worth it. Please note that I write this review as a full year student; I can't really speak to what I would have gotten out of just one semester. Language-wise, I doubt I could have had a better program. The modern standard Arabic professor is easily the most incredible Arabic professor any of us had ever..."

"It was definitely worth while. I was able to explore Europe for the first time. I loved my host family and will always stay in contact with them. I felt that my French (comprehension, writing, speaking) definitely improved. "
A student Wellesley College
"I feel more confident with my spanish skills. Personally, I feel more independent and confident. "
A student Wellesley College
"I became more independent, responsible, and calm in stressful/new situations. I learned to live completely on my own and navigate a new culture. I learned a lot about the French way of life, and I gained a new perspective on the western world. It was most definitely a worthwhile experience."
A student Wellesley College
"I really enjoyed not being at Wellesley, being able to chill out and not take everything so seriously all of the time. I also found a lot of independence, the educational system there is really sink or swim, you don't need to go to class and they don't remind you of tuition payment deadlines, course registration times, or even t..."

"I learned about how to navigate a foreign place, how to meet new people, how to live in the rainforest, how to carry out an independent research project, how to write a scientific paper, and how to immerse myself in the culture and lifestyle. Everything was worthwhile."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned how much I appreciate the American university system and overall the American way of life. It was a nice semester to hang out and relax, and it certainly made me appreciate what I left back home, but I would not do it again. "
A student Wellesley College
"I was able to get involved with the culture and greatly improved my language skills."
