I learned the do's and don'ts of being in a different culture, as well as improving my language proficiency. - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I learned that I should have gone with at least one friend that I was familiar and comfortable with. About

To acquire a new language, start by engaging your mind. At the Spanish School, we believe that engaging your mind with topics of interest—from history and the arts to current events and cooking—is the best way to tap into the motivation you need to succeed.

The School is a summer home for some of the foremost teachers, scholars, and artists in the Spanish-speaking world. You’ll learn from them during daily classroom instruction, as well as at individual review sessions and drop-in evening office hours. Outside of class, you'll join them in cocurricular activities designed to help you build new vocabulary while developing cultural fluency—from dancing salsa to cooking paella, from competing on the soccer field to hosting your own radio show. This powerful blend of rigorous academic study and varied cocurricular activity has made the Spanish School one of the world’s premier language immersion programs.

We offer undergraduate studies as well as MA and DML programs. Graduate students can study on our Vermont campus, abroad in Madrid, or at our summer  Language School in Buenos Aires, and choose from intensive courses in political science, literature, Spanish and Latin American culture, and pedagogy, all supported by the Language Pledge. This agreement to speak only Spanish during your time in the program helps to create a unique immersion environment designed to support independent exploration, maximize language acquisition, and foster the cultural understanding you need to thrive in the classroom and in the Spanish-speaking world. Outside the classroom, you will build your language skills and cultural understanding through a variety of cocurricular activities.
