Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"I absolutely loved my year at Oxford. I really hope I am able to spend some more time there at some point in my life. The intensely academic lifestyle, however, has taught me that a life of academia is not for me. As such, it has really helped me define my future career and academic plans. I wholeheartedly recommend Oxford. ..."

"Yes, it was very worthwhile. It was challenging to be overseas in a large urban metropolis and survive for four months. The excursions we made to less populated areas of Peru were educational, as well. Be aware that things we take for granted here in the United States, such as cameras, credit cards and birth control pills may..."

"Meeting people from such a variety of backgrounds was eye-opening. The conversations were interesting and there was always something new to talk about. You will make friends there that you will always keep in touch with, no matter how far apart you are. Going off on my own to explore a different part of the world was everything ..."

"It has been one of the best experiences of my life. I had a great time because I got to get immersed into the French culture and practice the language. I meet a lot of people from all over the world and got to travel to a lot of places in Europe. If I could I would do it again. "
Paola C The University of Texas at Austin

"I could not have asked for a better study abroad experience. I went into the program without expectations, not fluent in the language and cautious of the French stereotypes. This made the experience much more worthwhile as I was able to establish my own opinions on the country, the university, and the people. Although I'm an int..."
Melanie J The University of Texas at Austin
"Yes! I learned so much about teaching and about myself and what kind of teacher I want to be. I learned that I can accomplished a lot more than I give myself credit for. I learned to take charge of my learning and to always be an active learner - even after I graduate. I learned to relax and self-reflect daily. I came home a hap..."
Laura W Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville
"Yes, it was totally worthwhile. The things I remember the most are the little things that Moroccans do similarly to or differently from Americans. This ranged from how they dressed to how they interected between families in public--pretty much everyday things. I was bitten by the study abroad bug. I can't wait to study in ..."

It made me realize I am ..."

"Absolutely worthwhile - I met the greatest people and traveled to beautiful places. We were independent and free to make our own choices at the spur of the moment, while still being responsible and managing for ourselves. I learned so much about the French culture and cannot wait to go back for a longer period of time. EVERYBODY..."
Virginia H The University of Texas at Austin
"It is good to be quiet and observe, being a good listener is very helpful. Dress modestly and behave in the same manner. I learned a lot about the Muslim Religion and their customs. My experience in Egypt was wonderful, everything I could have hoped for. I truly wish the University did not find it necessary to keep closing f..."

Adria G Barnard College
"I gained a wealth of knowledge about the world around me as well as a better understanding of myself."
Jenna P The University of Texas at Austin
"This was a great trip and a great experience. Although there wasn't a lot of school/book learning, I learned more German in this month than I had the past year in school. Not only that, but all the boring history that we don't care about when we're in class? Not only do I now care, but when I am learning about places like Berlin..."

"I'm so happy I took a year abroad, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Of course, there are things I wish I could've done better, but when I see how much I've grown and learned I can't count any regrets. I completely immersed myself in another culture and discovered things I wouldn't have otherwise. South Korea, to me, feels l..."
