Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
"I learned a lot by being in another country and living/traveling on my own, which was extremely valuable."
Jacqueline T Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about myself as a traveler, I am a lot more independent than I thought. I did many things by myself, going to museums, concerts, shopping, and studying at cafes, it really was like a choose-your-own-adventure game. "
Eva M Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about different international cultures and how Americans are perceived abroad. I also learned how to navigate foreign academics and social life independently. "
Yeonsoo H Wellesley College

Grace Y Brandeis University
"I gained insight into what it is like to be a normal person in the world (not a student), I feel more mature, understanding of myself and my limits and overall excited for what life has to offer post-grad!"
Maeve G Wellesley College
"I learned what it's like to live in a city where you don't know anyone and how to navigate a big city"
Arzy A Wellesley College

A student Wellesley College
"It was beyond rewarding to build community in a foreign place, and make connections that I hope will last. "
A student Wellesley College
"I genuinely enjoyed the interactions I had with other students. I feel like I learned so much by watching other students work, looking and their projects and hearing their presentations. I truly value the friendships I made during my time here. "
A student Wellesley College
"I gained in-depth understanding of my field (linguistics) and exposure to a wide variety of topics that aren't available in a small liberal arts institution (e.g. indo-european morphology) that has (definitionally) fewer opportunities. I gained a lot from independent research. I learned most of all, how to be independent and to ..."
A student Wellesley College
"Going abroad was my first real opportunity for independence in the realest sense because of how far from home I was. It helped me learn how to take care of myself, how to put myself out there, and how to navigate different countries and cultures."
Amelie R Wellesley College
"I learned how to be more independent, how to organize trips, and study more independently without the help of coursework."
A student Wellesley College
"It was very worthwhile, I had a great time. "

"Studying abroad at Oxford has been one of the best decisions I've made during my college career so far. It was a profoundly impactful experience that fostered both academic and personal growth. Academically, I gained a deeper understanding of my subjects through the University's rigorous and unique tutorial system, which emphasi..."
A student Wellesley College
"I learned how to navigate a country where English was not the primary language. I worked with that barrier and was able to manage it decently."
A student Brandeis University
"I learned how much and how quickly I can get things done in less than a week. Oxford's academic system is unstructured, so it gives you a lot of time to explore different cool things around the university and the city, while teaching you how to manage your time and work, especially when you have travel plans during the term. I a..."
Valida P Wellesley College
"It was a fulfilling experience getting to travel and see so many different places around the world."
A student Brandeis University
"Got to see so much of Europe and other possibilities in life?"
A student Wellesley College
"I had so much fun and really enjoyed the Australian culture. I would repeat it again in a heartbeat."
Caroline H Wellesley College
"It was 1000% worthwhile, I met some lifelong friends that I am so grateful for. On top of that the growth journey that I had in Auckland, which was my goal, went exactly how I wanted it to go and I am so thankful. However it was more the City of Auckland and the people that I met that made the experience more than the School its..."
Jusrin P Wellesley College
"I feel like I grew a lot, socially and in terms of confidence and independence. I got to explore a new world and style of life, and make new friends in a challenging environment. I think I am stronger for the experience. It was worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"How to travel and explore other cultures, yes."
A student Brandeis University
"I learned how to live on my own and I also learned about being in a big city and how to deal with being away from home. I also learned about a lot of different people and cultures. I would say it was a worthwhile experience as I learned a lot about myself. "
A student Brandeis University
"I was 100% worthwhile. I made plenty of friends that I want to keep in touch with and was able to flex the skills I had been learning at Brandeis in the field."
Kyra W Brandeis University
"I learned a lot from my experience abroad. I made friends with people from all over the world (although most of them were other visiting students), many of whom I am still in touch with. I always wondered what it would be like to attend a university like Oxford and feel very lucky I've had the experience to do so. Oxford is a be..."
