I gained/ learned a lot from this experience! It was a great opportunity and a worthwhile trip. Sea|mester is a unique educational adventure set aboard S/Y Ocean Star, an 88-foot schooner. The expedition begins in the Caribbean’s British Virgin Islands and travels throughout the Eastern Caribbean visiting up to 20 individual islands. Based upon principles of experiential and adventure education, students will earn credit from the University of South Florida in oceanography, nautical science, communication and leadership skills development. Students undertake research and service projects with local government and private organizations while simultaneously working toward certifications in sailing and scuba diving. No experience is necessary. Sea|mester Programs offer 80-day voyages during the fall and spring as well as 40- and 20-day voyages during the summer.
