I learned a lot about living alone and it was definitely cool to experience college in a city environment. I would recommend booking as many trips around Australia as you can afford to as those are what I enjoyed most from my experience. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review

I learned so much about myself, about what I value in my life, and what I want to do with my future. It was very insightful being immersed into a new culture. I love my country (America) but the emphasis on quality of life in Australia really got to me and changed my own outlook on life. It was definitely worthwhile and if anyth... Living in Sydney, Australia for a semester of college solidified my profound sense of independence. With a redefined sense of self-confidence, I have been able to strip away the nonsense of reality and focus my attention on what truly matters to the core of my being. Yes, it was definitely worthwhile. I now know I love to travel and that I want to do it more frequently. Australia does not present as big of a culture shock as other parts of the world, but the culture and beliefs still varied, were consciously noted, and I greatly value the new perspectives they have given me. Studying abroad was definitely fun, but I wouldn't really coin it as a life changing experience. Honestly it really just felt like a glorified vacation. It was a blast, don't get me wrong, but the University was easy, and I didn't really face too many great challenges that I had to overcome. William N - Austin College View Entire Review
I was given the chance to remove myself from my comfort zone and go to a place that I have always wanted to go to. My expectations were exceeded. I saw such beautiful things and tried new things. I was fortunate to travel so much throughout Australia and also to New Zealand. I would never change anything about my abroad experien... Dale L - University of Rochester View Entire Review

My experience studying abroad with IES in Sydney, Australia was incredibly eye-opening. I studied at the University of New South Wales in Kensington, which is conveniently located about twenty minutes from world famous Coogee Beach. I loved studying at this university because my school back in the US is super rural, so it was a ... Kelly Heilman - Sewanee: The University of the South View Entire Review

Studying abroad in Sydney was one of the best decisions I have made. It's impossible to describe my five month experience in a review, but upon my return to the states, I have recommended studying abroad to everyone. I gained an understanding of different cultures and accepting different beliefs, whether I agree with them or not. I would have gone through a different program than IES, but enjoyed every other aspect of my study abroad experience. Absolutely! While it didn't necessarily impact my cultural awareness as much as maybe some other countries would have, I still got to experience being on the complete other side of the world, and they DO do things very differently.
