It was a great networking experience. I want to end up in LA eventually, so it was worthwhile. It was a study abroad program. You still are in the United States. There isn't any distinct cultural disparities. - Emerson College View Entire Review
Got a great understanding of how to live and work in Los Angeles on a budget and gain as many invaluable connections as you can. - Emerson College View Entire Review

Yes. I learned a lot about people, the film industry in Hollywood, the culture of Los Angeles and Southern California in general, made new friends and connections and I am planning to return as soon as possible. - Emerson College View Entire Review
I had a wonderful internship and learned a lot. I enjoyed exploring the area, but ultimately came to the decision that LA was not the city for me. This program provided me with a safe "crash course" in Los Angeles and I truly value my experience there. - Emerson College View Entire Review

Independence. I came to LA not really close to anyone in the program, and not knowing anyone in LA, so I had to do a lot on my own. Building your independence helps build your character and it's definitely worth it. I know a lot of us think that living at college alone makes us independent, and it does, but there's nothing like ... - Emerson College View Entire Review

About

Qualified juniors, seniors and graduate students may enroll for a semester of study at the Emerson College Los Angeles Center. The Los Angeles Center is a residential program with a full semester of internship opportunities and course-work during the fall and spring semesters, as well as a shortened summer session.

The internship course may be taken for 4 or 8 college credits and requires completion of both academic assignments and a specific number of hours at the intern site. With over 1000 internships in all aspects of the entertainment industry including film, television, radio, performance, new media, music, management, journalism, publicity and public relations, the LA program offers a broad range of opportunities in a variety of fields.

Student interns integrate theory and practice in an atmosphere of "experiential learning" with the goals of self-knowledge, personal growth, and career development. Interning with industry professionals such as set designers, film editors, writers, stage managers, film and television producers, casting directors, talent managers, and publicity directors, provides students with an understanding of the industry beyond the classroom.

Courses are taught by Los Angeles Center faculty who, as well as being academically credentialed, are professionals working in the industry, including producers, directors, screenwriters, advertising and public relations executives, actors, entertainment marketing professionals and more.

Completely furnished student housing (mandatory for undergraduates) is offered a short distance from the center at the Oakwood Apartment Complex near Universal Studios, Warner Brothers, and NBC.

Applications should be submitted at least one year in advance of attendance.
