There were many different lessons learned from being abroad. I learned about different cultures which I experienced when I was living in France and traveling around Europe. I exercised my independence and responsibility by planning my trips and traveling alone as well. I think it's important to realize you cannot always wait on... I learned that the people of the world have an immense amount of knowledge and it is important to experience everything and all you can, given the opportunities you seek out. Pilar M - Seton Hall University View Entire Review
It was absolutely worthwhile. Spending months in a foreign country where you don't speak the language improves your language skills, makes you more adaptable and flexible, gives you a greater understanding of the culture you're in and opens up your eyes to all of the opportunities that the world offers. About
Volunteer in the local community while studying in Grenoble! The American Corner, an organization that makes information about the U.S. available to people in foreign countries, offers volunteer opportunities for AIFS students. If you’re planning a career in education, we can also provide you with information about the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF).
Live in a French homestay or, for an additional fee, live in a student residence. Breakfast and dinner are included every day in the homestay; residence students receive a meal allowance to subsidize the cost of meals and groceries.
You’ll enjoy cultural and social activities such as guided city walks, visits to local museums, French cooking classes, a ride on the famous cable cars over the city, hiking trips, language exchange with French students and day trips to Lyon and Annecy. And of course, some of the best skiing in the world is just 45 minutes from the center of town.
An optional excursion to Vercors (fall semester only) and an optional Alpine Weekend (spring semester only) are also available. An optional excursion to London, England is included for students on the AIFS Flight Package.
