About
Students complete up to 6 transferable credit hours across three courses certified by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), with sealed transcripts mailed directly to your home institution upon completion:
- History & Development of Golf (Unit Code: HW84 47) — Traces the origins, formalization, and global evolution of the sport from folk-game roots to the present day.
- Golf Coaching: Intermediate Performance Skills (Unit Code: F3CL 34) — Develops practical coaching skills, including pitching, bunker play, and the delivery of four supervised coaching sessions.
- Coaching Internship Work Assignment (Unit Code: HJ4W 34) — A structured work experience unit focused on professional development and career reflection.
In addition to unlimited play at the Elmwood practice facilities, participants tee off at some of Scotland’s most iconic venues. Courses included or accessible through the program include Kingarrock Hickory Golf Course, Arbroath, Scotscraig, Boat of Garten, and Leven. Optional tee times (at additional cost) can be arranged through Adelante staff — who are able to secure reservations and discounts at courses that are typically impossible to book independently — at venues including The Dukes at St. Andrews, the Old Course, Gleneagles, Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, Dumbarnie, Drumoig, and Wellsgreen.
- Pre-departure orientation and counseling
- Airport pickup and in-country orientation
- Private room in student self-catering accommodations at St. Andrews University
- College tuition for all three courses
- Lunch provided Monday through Friday
- Weekday transportation to Elmwood Campus and included golf excursions
- Many green fees (weekend and optional tee times excluded but can be arranged)
- Sealed, fully transferable SQA transcripts upon successful completion
