The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign University to introduce world-class teaching resources with an independent campus. It was established in 2003 with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education and is run by the University of Nottingham with cooperation from Zhejiang Wanli Education Group.
UNNC's mission statement is "Academic excellence in the service of global citizenship". It means that UNNC has committed itself to developing subjects that combine internationally ranked teaching and research excellence from the University of Nottingham UK with China's needs for social and economic development, to introduce a series of world-class courses which are entirely carried out in English and are under exactly the same teaching evaluation system as the University of Nottingham UK.
UNNC is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province of China on a dedicated campus with a land area of 887 mu and a construction area of 200,000 square metres, with students and staff from over 70 countries. 2018 QS world ranking for University of Nottingham is 84.
